Meet Lolita Yagnik | owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lolita Yagnik and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lolita, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
During 2007 I was going through grad school and I was assisting my cousin at her ice cream shop. One day I was overseeing the store from afar and just watched customers come to the shop and see their smiles. It brought me back to my childhood and reminded how fun it was to get on a bike and ride to the farm and get a cone. I said to myself from there I want to open a place that kids can come and get an ice cream and do their homework and play games. In 2016 is when we opened up.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We originally started off as an ice cream store only but a few months in we realized we had to add more stuff. Over 9 years we have over 300 stuff on our menu and so many different additions like carnival food, fried hot dogs, pizza and many more. Covid actually assisted to stay afloat and made a name for ourself. Deliveries saved us. Persistence is the key. Lots of life lesson but one is that you must be open to change and no resistance. We offer lots of creations that come from a place of lots of unconditional love and happiness.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well having a business I have to make time out for this to occur. I have my mornings to myself so I definitely take them to Red Eye Mule, Crooked Tree and in the evening Burn. I also take them to my sports bar where I watch the Philadelphia Eagles Play which is Rocky Mountain Pizza.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My cousin Preeti and Asit Joshi are my inspiration that allowed me to come up with Lolita’s Parlour. Also Hershey’s Creamery that provided a product that has been around for a long time. I waited for them to get distribution and a year later we opened up. We were their 1st parlor.
