We had the good fortune of connecting with Liv Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liv, why did you pursue a creative career?
I would say that artistry and creativity chose me, but that might be a little cheesy. So, I will say that I was surrounded by it from the day I was born and sort of just leaned in. My mother was an engineer by trade but an artist at heart. Her lineage is full of illustrators, poets and the like. I found design in a digital arts class in high school and quickly learned that it was something (maybe the only thing) that I could give my full attention to for long periods of time. I knew then that it would be my industry and that I would make my way in it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I work both a 9-5 in a corporate space and 9-12 for myself. I go to the gym and eat in between those times. That being said, my work looks different every week. I am constantly creating and solving problems through design. On any given day I’m creating large scale event graphics, cover art for musicians, motion flyers or branding. It can be hard to balance both but I am learning so much through the process. I think having the best of both worlds sets me apart and allows me to be a more well-rounded service provider.

I am most excited about all of the projects I see in store for Livvy On The Label. Right now I am doing apparel and print, but I have done home decor as well. It’s a very organic creative endeavor and while that can be risky, I think the possibilities for what can be achieved are endless.

I think the most challenging aspect of working the way I do is to avoid seasons of deep burnout. I do that by making sure I take time to care for myself and give breathing room to my deadlines!

As for lessons learned, I am still a student. My advice is to lean in heavily to the vision you see for yourself in your head. If you don’t have one, go try things! One will develop! I want the world to know that Liv as a creative is just getting started!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m not an itinerary person – so that’s where I’ll start, ha! But I do have staples that I absolutely love.

Food: Harolds Chicken and Ice Bar (Edgewood), Perfect Seasoning (Chattahoochee Food Works), Cafe Agora, Paschal’s, MattChews, Omni Coffee and Eggs, Jeni’s!

Drinks: Holiday Bar, Drawbar, The James Room, Therapy Lounge, Black Coffee ATL, Urban Grind, Omni, Parlor, High Note

Socializing: Beltline East Side & Krog Street Market, Peter Street Station Wednesday Jam Session, Peachtree Farmer’s Market, Painted Pin, wherever there is a good vibe on a Saturday night!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my FAMILY! I have had the privilege to be supported by my Dad, Mom (late), two sisters, and the friends I have made into family along the way. They pour into me and allow me to transform mine and their ideas into realities. I, like many of us, can sometimes experience imposter syndrome. Without my village, that syndrome would have prevented me from creating Livvy On The Label and from imagining a bigger future for it.
