We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisamarie Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisamarie, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
It sounds kind of crazy to say that I didn’t, but it’s true. Where I am now, in my life and in my business would’ve been farfetched to a younger version of myself.

Initially, I did want a career in entertainment, specifically modeling, singing or dancing. That was why I moved to Atlanta, in the first place.

For me, I can truly say that standing tall and on my own feet, gave me the idea for this business. Simply, after life tried to take me out, I refused to give up.

I had no plans of writing a book, but I wanted to do something about the things that happened to me.
I was against writing anything at first, because I didn’t want to be judged. Little did I know, writing those books gave me my power back.

In conclusion, I believe that I was given this business, this mission for a higher purpose, to help others. For a while, I thought it to be unfair. I felt like a martyr and even after writing the books, I didn’t know what to do next. The whole process made me feel like a guinea pig. Then, I saw the first steps in my mind and the rest became clear with time, little by little. That’s when I realized that life might be just a little bigger than me. That’s how we’ve gone from a tragedy to an idea, to a full cast and crew. Following the instinct that I feel and moving on it’s accord has developed my life into Lisamarie Publishing LLC and following, LMP Film Company, where we Pray Before We Shoot.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Developing a company through my art, was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. Again, it was not easy. This was probably one of the most difficult tasks, just because of the time investment and the sacrifice.

A few years prior to my own circumstances, I did a great amount of helping people, form businesses out of ideas, along with creating selling platforms and structuring the arrival of new products. That experience made me realize, that the power of manifesting was real and the outcome, could be quite tangible.

Moving forward, I faced many obstacles after writing my first book. There were multiple agents, and literary agencies, alike that turned me down and for the same reason. They all gathered, that I had a wonderful story and it was we’ll written but I was missing the most important thing.

I almost fell out of my seat, when I was told this ”impeccable” thing that I was missing. What was it? Oh, im sure you know by now.

They all denied me because of my lack of clout. They all denied me, because they needed too many resources to create a name and / brand for myself, because I was nobody.. They said.

I was pretty hurt for months, but then that voice came back to me, and kept me going.

That’s when I realized that I needed to know everything about my business. I needed to be confident in what I was building. No one should know my business better than me. So, I got to work.

From there, I did everything ,myself. That is what sets me apart from everyone else. I didn’t have any help but I didn’t let that stop or delay my progress. I learned it and I figured it out.

After 3 years, I had 2 published novels, that had been written, edited, cover designed, marketed, and distributed all by me. I learned how to distribute my work and landed them in thousands of vendors across the world. Following, I wrote a 3 part children’s series with my own kids, allowing them to help me with the designing, writing and publishing process, as well.

There were so many lessons learned that I couldn’t even list them all, the most important thing that I’ve learned though is to never underestimate yourself and always see your worth.

Anything is possible, as long as you are willing to put the time and effort in. Never give up, not because you’re tired or because someone else thinks that its best. Listen to yourself, is the advice that I believe makes me successful because I tell myself every day that the creator gave this vision to me, and if was somebody else’s.. The message would not have been so potent.

Through my terrible circumstances, many beautiful things were born and I am proud of that. Not taking any losses, only creating wins, I really think or hope anyway, that the universe supports me in that!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow, I’m such a homebody. We would definitely door dash it up.

Maybe hit the movies and a good restaurant, but other than that; it’s hard to pull me away from my work in the house.

I truly enjoy it, so I would kind of feel bad for my friend! 🙂
