We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa (Leesa) Moton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa (Leesa), what’s the end goal, career-wise?
So my [end goal] is simple. I would love my brand to grow from locally to globally one day. I want to work in different countries. It wouldn’t necessarily be the [END], it would be the birth of a new adventure.
During the development stages of my brand, I wanted something catchy that rolled off the tongue. Leesa Media is a statement and a sentence all in one. It’s a reply if you will. I want to be the [go-to] for any grassroots, start-ups, or seasoned business needing PR services. Your one-stop PR shop.
My #1 goal is to leave my kids a [legacy] for generations to come. A family business that can house other entities under one big umbrella. Sorta like Amazon or Fidelity.
All things must end, but the business can live on well after I’ve retired my computer :).
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I love the land of PUBLIC RELATIONS! Under Leesa Media I handle many layers from start to finish depending on the clients needs.
Focal points are: Brand Awareness, Business Coaching, Pitches, Media Placements, and Brand Management.
I do other ad-hoc items but formations are normally first. I create business plans and DIY packages for ones that want to take a stab at it on their own.
Nothing worth having comes easy. I’ve always had a business mind, but jumping into PR you need education, experience and most of all connections. It’s relationships and who you know. You have to stay up to date on everything. Things can change overnight.
I overcame all challenges by NOT GIVING IN OR UP! I stayed diligent and focused.
I started my brand to make a difference & be a voice for those who want to stand in the same lines as BIG corporations. There is true power in being SMALL.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I’m not a native to Philly but I’ve been here 20 years. Let the sightseeing begin!
During our week long list of excursions, we would definitely start with facials!
Day 1: The Deeva Lab is perfect for facials, pedis & pampering. After we’d head out to lunch in either old city or Rittenhouse. There’s plenty of delectable restaurants to choose from. We’d head to Cray Taste in old city.
Day 2: Our second day would be adventure! What better way than to tour the city on the BIG Bus tour! Hop on & off, definitely stopping in Chinatown -that food is another level!
Day 3; Strictly South Street! Food, fun and drinks.
Day 4: There’s a newbie, we’d definitely have to try the Tea Around Town Bus. Tea, lite fare and great views.
Day 5: No slowing down -We are heading to South Philly! The Italian market, South Street, & Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens. Catch a few views of the stadiums.
Day 6: Too much to do in so little time! LOVE Park, Reading Terminal and possibly the liberty bell.
Day 7; Quick breakfast and back to the airport! I’d for sure be beat by then lol.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout out my kids & clients! They trust my expertise, knowledge and skillset with their businesses! That’s true loyalty and love!
My children are first of course! Both have learned from me, so stay tuned!! They are the reason I do this on top of I love all things PR!
Giving a quick shoutout to a few here; Mary L. (Artistic Rain), Jasara P (Hands of Joi, The Melanated Blind Baker), Georgina W (Na’Ology Beauty) and Don B. (RD Construction and Fencing).
