We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success as an entrepreneur has been my drive. As a Spelman College graduate, I am surrounded by go-getters, grinders and women who go hard or go home. The company that I keep can be both intimidating and inspiring. I see them and I know that I can and should do more to reach my goals.

What should our readers know about your business?

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a California native, but I absolutely love The ATL and consider myself to be an ATLien.

One of my favorite spots to hang out and listen to phenomenal live music is Venkman’s. It’s definitely a well-kept secret in the city.

I love to grab soul food at The Busy Bee. It is such an unassuming and no-nonsense kind of place. So glad that it is still around after all of these years.

My favorite type of food is Indian Food and Atlanta has a substantial Indian population and thus pretty amazing Indian cuisine. There are so many places that I enjoy, but I find myself at Botiwalla most often.

The AUC – Atlanta University Center is historic part of the City that is so inspiring, so full or energy and hope. I love to walk about the various campuses and watch the students rushing around and making their way to greatness.

When I need to relax, I make my way to IwiFresh Organic Spa for a facial, massage or mani-pedi. All of their products are made in-house with ingredients fresh from the owner’s garden.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my Shoutout to all of the Black women who came before me, to all the Black women who are with me now and to all of the Black women who will come after me. They are my strength, my joy and my motivation. I do most things with the intention of moving us forward. A woman who came before me and taught me advanced calculus: Dr. Etta Falconer. A woman who is with me now and keeps me on my toes: Dr. Kim Dixon. A woman who is coming after me and is well on her way: Kamlynne Fontan.
