We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsay, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It was completely accidental. The concept came to me, I made a prototype out of scraps from my backyard, and my friends liked it so much I made a better one. And then an even better one.

About prototype number seven, I realize that they would fit nicely over doors and windows in anybody’s house, and I said to myself “hey, I could actually sell these!”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The unique concept behind these clocks is simple and obvious. But setting up the shop and the process to make them, and to make them beautiful, was quite the opposite. I remember the first year or two, my frequent thought was “There are just SO MANY WAYS to screw up a clock!”

It’s satisfying to get solutions to all the detailed issues. Even more satisfying to work them out with the smart and competent people on this team.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Benne as a restaurant, and the Foundry next door where you can frequently dance to a small jazz band. The Grove Arcade downtown has an amazing story you can find in the center.
And a walk around the Montford neighborhood is always beautiful.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I deeply appreciate the people who work with me on this project: Szilvia Csatlos, who buys the lumber and does the woodworking; margot Sanders, so buys the electronics and builds the mechanisms; and Hannah Hoffman, who keeps all the IT gears meshing. And the constant support and advice I get from my partner, Linda Gambill,
