Meet Lindsay Barrett | Small Business Owner & Vintage Furniture Curator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Barrett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lindsay, how do you think about risk?
When we think about risk, we see it as a crucial part of growth both personally and for our business. Risk isn’t just about taking a blind step into the unknown. It’s about trusting in our vision, even when the path ahead is uncertain. If we hadn’t taken risks, we wouldn’t be where we are now, running our vintage shop and connecting people with unique, mid-century modern pieces that bring character and joy to their homes.
One of the biggest risks we took was shifting from selling solely on Facebook Marketplace to opening an Etsy shop and building our own website. At the time, it felt intimidating. We found ourselves wondering how we’d handle shipping our pieces across the country and if we could manage the logistics and costs as a small business. It felt like a huge step, and we couldn’t shake the worry of whether we’d be able to pull it off smoothly. But taking that leap led to rewarding results like growth, valuable lessons, and deeper connections with the community we cherish.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our business is all about giving new life to vintage pieces and connecting them with people who truly appreciate their history and design. What sets us apart is the personal care and effort we put into every piece, from sourcing unique mid-century modern furniture to restoring it in a way that honors its original craftsmanship. I’m proud that we’ve built this as a family business, operating out of our home in Tucker, GA. It’s been a journey balancing family life and entrepreneurship, but it’s also what makes our story so special. Getting here wasn’t easy. When we first started, we relied on platforms like Facebook Marketplace, but as we grew, we expanded to Instagram, Etsy, and now our website. Along the way, we’ve had to adapt, learning about SEO, marketing, and connecting with customers on social media. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the value of authenticity. Customers connect with the story behind a piece, and being honest about who we are and what we do has made all the difference. I want people to know that vintage furniture is more than just decor; it’s a way to reuse and reimagine items with a story. Whether it’s a Danish rosewood dining set or a quirky eclectic lamp, each piece we sell is a reflection of our belief in sustainable living and timeless design.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting, I’d want to show them a mix of my favorite spots in Tucker and Atlanta. We’d start with coffee and labne toast at Mint Coffee Shop in Tucker for a cozy vibe and great coffee. Then we’d visit some of our local thrift shops and walk through Downtown Tucker to check out Main Street, stopping by Ford’s BBQ for some incredible birria tacos and maybe popping into Wine and Whimsey’s for unique gifts or a wine tasting.
For something active, we’d explore Mason Mill Park, with its trails, cable bridge, and historic structures—it’s one of my favorite places to unwind. If we’re in the mood for something more lively, we’d head into Atlanta for an Atlanta Track Club race. Their events are always so much fun and a great way to experience the city. Afterward, we’d grab lunch in Midtown, maybe at Mary Mac’s Tea Room or Krog Street Market.
To end the day, we might check out The Comet Bowling Alley in Tucker for some retro fun or just enjoy crepes and homemade ice cream at Sugar Mex for a sweet finish. Tucker and Atlanta have so much to offer—it’s hard to fit it all into one visit!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a big shoutout to my husband, Javier. He’s the heart behind so much of what we do. Everything from sourcing, restoring, and making sure every piece finds its way to its new home. I also want to thank the Tucker community for always cheering us on and supporting local businesses like ours. And, of course, my kids, Oliver and Maya, who’ve been so patient and supportive while we’ve built this business together. It’s a family effort, and I couldn’t do it without them.
