Meet Lily Hagen | CEO & Founder of Lingo Plaza

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lily Hagen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lily, what role has risk played in your life or career?

I think life is about taking risks. From relationships to businesses, we’re all taking risks in one way or another.

Before we founded Lingo Plaza, we saw and experienced the pain points of Language and Cultural education. It was an opportunity to either wait and hope for someone to solve this issue, or take a risk and do it ourselves. It was a big risk, and there was a lot of unknown, but if we wouldn’t have taken the risk, we never would have learned how our solution is enabling families to embrace the hispanic culture, heritage languages and have genuine cross-cultural connections.

What should our readers know about your business? What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

We are proud to enable families and kids to fall in love with Spanish and the Hispanic culture, while making real cross-cultural connections. Language learning is a journey, and we make sure it’s a fun experience for our students.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

My family and I are foodies, so we have a few favorite places we like to take our friends and family when they visit. We love going to Ponce City Market, The Works and the Westside Provisions District. For a relaxed family weekend, we go to Roswell a lot. From breakfast at Fellows Cafe, lunch at Vas Kouzina, to a delicious dinner and a good drink at 1920 Tavern.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

My husband and business partner, Daniel Hagen. My kids who were and continue to be our inspiration. Our family, friends and mentors who have been believing in us and constantly supporting us. But above all, our Plaza families, who have trusted us and supported us from the very beginning.
