Meet Lilly Hart | Musician/Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lilly Hart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lilly, how does your business help the community?
When I started writing music, I used it as an outlet for my own thoughts and feelings. I wrote about how I perceived the world as a teenager in the suburbs. However, when I started releasing music, I started to get DM’s and comments from people I didn’t know saying that they could relate to my lyrics. It was a surreal experience because my art impacted people in a way I didn’t expect. I began to realize that my music could bring people together and make them realize they aren’t alone. At the end of the day, I want people to take my lyrics and interpret them how they want to. I want them to relate my lyrics to their personal experiences.. I think it’s really special when someone sends you a message saying your song really helped them through a tough time. I hope that I can continue to grow and impact more people.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started writing 3 years ago during covid, simply because I had time. Before I was so focused on getting a scholarship for basketball. While I was deciding what kind of artist I wanted to be, I experimented with a lot of genres. I realized that I didn’t want my music to fit into a category or a style. I wanted it to be authentic and unique to me. Once I started releasing music people commented on my unique style. What I’m most proud of is the fact that my lyrics resonated with people. Even if it was just a couple people, impacting people’s lives was a huge success for me. As I grow, I am very excited to continue to impact their lives. When I was starting out, I had to figure out how to record and distribute on my own. It took months just to figure out how to release my first song but it felt great when I did. The next battle was getting people to listen. It once again took months to figure out what marketing strategies I should use and who I should contact but I did. Then I asked myself, how do I make money off of this? I realized I needed to network and really get myself out there and I am now a signed artist. The next steps for me is to keep growing, keep asking questions, and never stop. The most important lesson I’ve learned along the way is to be persistent. It’s so important to keep pushing when it feels like your running in place. I feel like my athletic experience helped me build these morals. I want the world to know that I am a huge believer in giving back. The reason I am here right now is because of all the support I have received from my community and from my listeners. As I continue to grow, I want to give back in as many ways as possible. I specifically want to help kids starting to make music but they don’t know the steps to take.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I think there are a lot of cool places to visit. In terms of food, I would definitely take them to Ponce city market. I also think Ponce is a really cool place to shop and walk around. I would probably show off a bit on that really cool piano in the outside part. I would take them to a lot of locally owned restaurants to support smaller businesses. There are a lot of great places downtown. I would definitely take them to the basics like the world of coke and the aquarium. I would also want to take them to a concert at the tabernacle because it’s such a cool venue. I hope to play there one day. Another cool little spot is little five points. There are some cool record shops and stuff like that around there. We’d definitely take a trip to perimeter mall and eat Chinese at the food court.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many people who helped me get to where I am today! My family and friends (especially my parents) have supported me since day one. They continually show up for me and lift me up. A specific person I want to thank is Scott Register. While I was playing basketball at BSC, he helped me get on the radio and then make connections with labels. I would also like to thank a producer/engineer who is called moonsonthetrack. Before I was signed, he mixed and mastered all my tracks.. He made my work sound very professional and it helped me. I would also like to thank my label Mick Music for signing me and believing in me.
