We had the good fortune of connecting with $liiick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi $liiick, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from Lithonia GA. I’m an only child and I was often the youngest in any room I sat in. Both of my parents worked together to set me up for success so that instilled certain morals in my character that created boundaries to protect my (very explosive) heart. Spending most time alone, I got a good idea of who I wanted to be and what type of impact I wanted to have on those close to me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My flow and choice of melody sets me apart from the majority because my music taste isn’t like everyone else’s so we don’t have the same influences. My parents were also musically diverse so that indicated who I’d be listening to in the most important years of my life. I am where I am because of the people who support me and give me opportunities to connect with them and those around them. It definitely was not easy but I’m still overcoming these challenges. I will always be a work in progress and I will always be grateful for an opportunity to overcome anything put in place to destroy me. I’ve learned that not everyone is capable of returning the unique and genuine type of love given to them. I’ve also learned that you get what you give when you maintain.
I want the world to know that I am and I am not depending on how you look at me. My story began with a dream that turned into a movie of endless possibilities. I am a black woman made in the image of God.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a million dollars I’d go to top golf, Bowlero in Atlantic station, then to the studio on Monday. Six flags, Little Five Points on Tuesday. Nail date with @nailsbymorgdollxo then golden glide on Wednesday. Studio all day Thursday. Friday I’m going to my grandma’s fish fry then I’m most likely going to a show or an event. Saturday I’m packing and flying out the country for a vacation.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be anything without my mom, she always believed that I could do anything I put my mind to. She always encouraged me to do what made me happy even if it meant separation from her. She listens to my music and embodies it which is how I envision anyone who genuinely relates to my music. Shoutout to Lord Chrome, Yungbabyskoop, and Lil Scissorhandz. My lil brothers from the underground that have supported me since we met have inspired me through music and everyday life. ThankNeno is also someone who motivates me to challenge myself and grow as a person through my overall presence. Mikey, my manager, believed in me enough to take a leap of faith and make me his first artist, all while maintaining a media company and opening his own studio. Shoutout to God because it lives through me.
