We had the good fortune of connecting with Letitia Wise and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Letitia, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk to me is taking a chance on something, without knowing what the outcome will actually be. I am an Actress . I love acting. It is a dream that I have decided to pursue. I am also a Registered Nurse, and a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. I have taken the risk of not working full time and not having company provided health insurance,, in order to have flexibility with my schedule, so I can be available for auditions and bookings. This risk effects my financial freedom . I really have to budget and watch my spending. Prioritize. But you know what? Its worth it to me..I am pursuing my dream. Not everyone has the courage to do that. I refuse to be 50 or 60 years old with thoughts of would’ve, could’ve, should’ve. I dont want any regrets in my golden years. You only have 1 life ,might as well live it to the fullest. I have strong faith, and God given talent, in addition to training,, and coaching.. Trust me when I say, taking this risk will be worth it for me..One day soon you will turn on your television and see me weekly as a series regular, another day you will be watching a movie and say “Hey! That’s Letitia!”
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an actress, background singer, and dancer. Some call it a triple threat, I call it blessed. I started performing off an on doing one if not two of the aforementioned in junior high school. Throughout my teen and adult years I was always performing one of the art forms. It wasn’t until 2014 that I participated in a community theater musical and couldn’t shake the acting/singing bug. I moved to Atlanta in September 2017. I was here on a Physical Therapy contract. A hurricane devastated St. Croix, USVI which is where I was living prior to the contract. My sister advised me to stay in Atlanta. I saw that as my opportunity to pursue my dream. I enrolled in Premier Actor’s Network in May of the following year. Thats where I met my coaches Dwayne and Todd. I had an agent by September. I’ve been doing Indie short films, commercials,, web series, and music videos ever since. I am actually a lead in a Webseries called EMERGENCY. Its coming soon, so keep an eye out for it. What makes me different or stand out? I would have to say my personality. I am very pleasant and easy to work with, I follow directions well, I am professional, and I take acting seriously. I like to learn and feed as well as feed off of another Actor’s energy. I love to create and still be my authentic self. I love being on set. Im a happy person, but I’m happiest on set. Acting is the only job that doesn’t feel like work, no matter how long I’m on set. I love it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I havent explored much in my 3 years here. Im still learning places myself. I do like the Aquarium and Centennial Park area. I love the Midtown. A lot of people love Lenox Mall. I actually like Perimeter Mall, Its easier to access, and less stressful traffic wise in my opinion. I would just tell the visitor to look up where they wanted to go and take them there. WAZE is my bestfriend. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank God for blessing me with the talent and courage to pursue my dream. I want to shout out my family, especially my oldest sister LaVonne. She’s my biggest fan and supporter. I would like to shout out my acting coaches Dwayne Boyd and Todd Manaigo. I would also like to shout out Jewell Parker , Annette Wilson, and LP(Larry Person). They keep me busy in the craft. I would also like to give a shout to my friends that encourage me.
