We had the good fortune of connecting with Lesley Price and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lesley, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
One of the most difficult decisions I ever had to make was …“STEPPING OUT IN FAITH” .. A lot of times FEAR set in us , we start to question God .. wondering what if I don’t make it , who’s goin to support me , will I survive in this business. The way I had to look at it was , DID I WANT TO SUCCED AS BAD AS I WANTED TO BREATHE… EITHER I WAS GOING TO SWIN OR I WAS GOING TO DROWN .. That’s when my mustard seed of FAITH KICKED IN … Stepping out was the best decision I ever made . If i had listened to the naysayers and allowed them to project their fears onto me Rugs By Les wouldn’t exist today … I NEVER would had taken the next step .

How did I get where I am today ? After working in the corporate world for the majority of my adult life, I was told when I can come in to work , and when I can take my vacation etc .. I knew it was time for me to do something for myself . It was time for a change. After being fired three times for no legitimate reason, “CORPORATE WORLD JUST ANIT FOR ME!” So during that time I began to build a brand. I began to invest in myself, buying materials that would get me to the next level. I started expanding my mind saying,” I’m going to have to get myself in position in case something happens . I wrote down the vision, things that I would /could do . I started looking at the outside world on how things was moving .

Was it easy , of course not .. if it was everyone would take the leap of FAITH ! So after being fired again , my mind was like a rocket, because what people don’t know is that it don’t take much to get started you just have to change your mindset on how you look at things . Once you change your mindset from Corporate to your running your own business the tunnel is no longer dark , it expands to unbelievable opportunities. But you have to trust yourself . Yes you will fail! I did several times but what made me better is that I didn’t allow myself to lay in disbelief, I went back to the drawing board, learned from my mistakes & rewrote the vision. Habakkuk 2:2. If it’s not plain to you then you have no direction. How can you lead when you’re not willing to put in the extra effort?

Some key lessons that I learned along the way is to always include the importance of continuous learning, adaptability to change, the value of empathy and understanding, the power of communication, and the significance of ethics and responsibility in decision-making.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Rugs By Les was established 2 years ago in December of 2022. One of my coworkers came to me and said I want to give you a small token for Christmas because you always help me without hesitation. This lady gave me a $25 gift card to Walmart. I said you know what I have everything I need to get started in my business but I don’t have any yarn . After leaving work that day I went to Walmart an bought $30 worth of yarn. I then went home to make my first rug. I went on YouTube to see how to get started. Everything was new to me from how to get the fabric tight to how to thread up the tufting gun etc . So after continuously studying my craft because I was determined to get started, I was on my way, I wasn’t going to let fear & failure set in . After messing up about two images I had figured it out! From there, I did a live Facebook session one night around 1 am (I knew someone was up on Facebook) From that live session I got my first rug order which was an Alabama Crimson Tide rug. From there I knew something was about to happen because I had that one person who also believed in my craft . From there I never looked back . Rugs By Les was on a journey of a thousand miles .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend would visit me they already know exactly what I’m going to do . I keep things simple less costly, remember they’re on vacation and they just want to have a good time without going broke . So the first place we probably would visit is a place called Indian Springs . This is a state park where you can do just about anything. This is a park where people have come from all over the world just to get the spring water. It has an awesome hiking trail, and cookout area to enjoy . I do not have a favorite restaurant because I am a foodie, however, there is a restaurant named Yahola Creek that is nearby that has an amazing flavor of the south. It also have a very relaxed atmosphere environment with excellent service.

We will definitely have to visit some areas that are hosting some craft events. My favorite thing to do . I love going out in the community showing love ,and supporting other entrepreneurs . It’s relaxing and it also expand your vision.
