We had the good fortune of connecting with Leon Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leon, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind our success is staying true to ourselves, and be fearless. Try to stick out by being yourself.
When I speak to people, I speak with a purpose and be engaged with whom I’m speaking with. You got to have passion Ian’s endure the process. You can’t control the results, but to have better results, apply more action.
Think outside of the box and just be free to create your own thing. Don’t worry too much about what people think about you.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started this brand back in 2015. I remember staying with my parents at the time and I locked myself in my room to create a brand. That’s how Rich On Purpose got started.
My brand represents the Rebels who Inspires the Creative Heroes, to pursue their purpose in a status quo society.
We’re deeper than just being a clothing brand. Rich On Purpose is an attitude, a mindset, the way of life. I like to call it a verbal vibe.
You would have some folks who will tell you to play it safe, or that idea is not going to work and you get discouraged. We’re the opposite from those individuals. We would be your cheerleader and tell you to pursue whatever it is that makes you happy.
My journey wasn’t hard or easy too be honest. I just had to learn from my previous mistakes so I can go to the next level, such as money management and being consistent.
You can’t mix up your business money with your personal money. I was doing that at the time and when it was time for me to re-up, I didn’t have the funds because I spent it on personal belongings.
So get a business account so you don’t have to deal with mixing up your money.
Main thing about being a creative is that you have to challenge yourself to think differently from other people. It just comes natural to me.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If you personally know me, you guys know my answer lol. THE PIZZA SPOT !!!!!!!!!
I go to the pizza spot to get catch a nice vibe with my people. Food is amazing, $5 Long Island and Margarita special everyday. The hookah be hitting and get you right.
It’s black owned and it’s off of Veterans Memorial Dr.
Not going to lie man that be the only spot I be going to too be honest. I don’t have to worry about parking, cover charge and watered down overprice drinks if I was in the city.
Now if I wanna do brunch in the city, I’m popping up at Fin and Feathers off of Edgewood or Escobar.
One of my favorite breakfast restaurants is Silver Skillet and then go to House of Hookah by GA Tech since they’re not too far from each other.
Can’t go wrong with chilling on the belt line and Piedmont Park. Take your lady out and enjoy each other company while riding bikes. Then pop up at Ponce City Market and relax at the rooftop.
I’m putting on game fellas. Thank me later lol.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost I have to give a huge shout out to God. If it wasn’t for God, I don’t know where I would be during my journey.
My wife, Marissa Lakes-Williams and my newborn, Nevaeh Noelle Williams. Those are my girls and my inspiration to continue to be the best version of myself.
Can’t forget about my parents, Tiphany Williams-Ware and Johnell Ware. My dad is the one who told me to go full throttle with this brand so I thank him for that.
Also want to give a shoutout to my team, Travis Hunt aka King Swift and Yung Nico and Deebo. They’re my brand ambassadors. Those guys truly believe in me and the brand.
The person who helped me along my journey and is like my personal mentor, Markus Malone. He has his own brand called, Manifest Ur Dreams. He be giving me free game and just being a big brother.
My inspiration to get started with my journey is David Shands, Sleep is 4 Suckers. His conversations we had and his book, Dreams Are Built Overnight definitely helped along the way.
Last but not least, my people from The Pizza Spot. They constantly believe in the brand and always representing.
Much love to all of the people who supported Rich On Purpose.
