We had the good fortune of connecting with Leneé Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leneé, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
As a parent, the most important thing I’ve done is never thrown the towel in and kept going. As a single mother and full-time entrepreneur (of 10 years), there have been super hard moments. I never succumbed to those moments. I always told myself that it was ok to take a break, but not to give up. This very thought process and way of life has greatly impacted my children.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Real estate is a passion of mine. My grandmother had several rental properties. My parents also had rentals so growing up real estate was engrained in me. Immediately after high school, I went to work in the banks (and later various other financial entities). While working in finance, I gained knowledge and skillsets that I found to be of extreme help in my own entrepreneurial journey. When I first started my business, I was working full-time during the day, going to school full-time at night, studying for my stock broker’s license and pregnant with my second child so there was nothing easy about it. I’ve always craved knowledge and wanted more for myself and family, but I wasn’t ready to take the leap into entrepreneurship completely so I after I graduated I worked a few more years. April, 4th of 2014 was my last day as a corporate employee. Coincidentally, on April 4th of 2015 I gave birth to my 4th and last child. Over the course of my corporate tenure and entrepreneurship journey I’ve learned countless lessons. One that stands out is to always give others benefit of doubt and to not go off of what you were told but rather what your actual experience is with someone. Another one that I learned while working in the bank is that people do business with those that they like, know and trust. This sits at my CORE and I utilize this even today in my current businesses. I’ve been behind the scenes for so long and only recently decided to show my face as my brand. So what I would like the world to know is that I am a mother first and foremost, a professional, a branch of a tree with a long lineage of entrepreneurs, a coach and a mentor. I am my brand, I am reachable, I am a real person and I truly enjoy helping others achieve their goals and dreams.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If someone were coming in town I would likely suggest venues near the Cumberland mall area. This is one of my faves because there’s so much to do in the area. I would start with Pappadeaux, maybe followed by indoor skydiving and then finish with some retail therapy. Time permitting I would check a few karaoke places out that I’ve recently heard of (Blaze Steakhouse is on the list for sure!).

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There is a gentleman by the name of John Wagner who I’ve worked with for several years now that’s been very instrumental in my real estate endeavors. Additionally, there’s a lady named Dianna Patton who I now know as one of my “Business Besties”. Dianna has helped me tremendously on the speaking side and I have a lifetime friend in her.
