We had the good fortune of connecting with LeJeune Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LeJeune, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?

Therapy Plus LLC is a therapeutic movement! We embody a holistic approach to the idea and concept of therapy. We approach therapy in the context of the whole person: physical, mental, emotional, social, environmental and spiritual. It is our take, that all these working parts impact the person as a whole. We strive to create healthier and stronger communities by enhancing access to mental health services and promoting health and wellness programing to vulnerable and marginalized populations who often lack adequate access. Through the lens of equity, we are driven dispel disparities that often lead to poor health and or mental health care outcomes in black and brown communities. As we settle into the post pandemic era, the need to promote healing and wellness in our homes and our communities is greater now more than ever. Therapy Plus endeavors to empower individuals, communities, and organizations in need with adequate access to wellness and mental health services to help them lead optimally functional and healthy lives.

We are advocates and agents of change! Therapy Plus collaborates with community partners to advocate for social welfare programs and policies to help uplift oppressed groups. Our agency is also strongly dedicated to educating our community providers through regularly scheduled professional conferences and workshops about diversity and inclusion, cultural competence, and equity training.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

My passion to help others stem from my childhood experiences in my youth. I have a younger brother that was diagnosed with Autism at 5 years old. In today’s society, Autism is well known about. However, back in the 90’s Autism was largely unheard of. To be given. diagnosis like that back then was scary. The difference maker was that our family had access to professionals like counselors and social workers that wanted to make a positive impact in our lives. These professionals helped us to overcome the barriers and challenges that come with having a family member that is disabled.

As a youth, I did not know how to define what they (social workers) were doing. Today, I would define it as empowerment. I want Therapy Plus to be that for others. To empower individuals and communities with the tools needed to navigate challenging times.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My husband and I just had the most amazing time in SAN FRANCISCO! He is a HUGE 49ner’s fan and he wanted to go to their training camp. We stayed in San Francisco for about a week and had so much fun. Every day we had an activity planned. One day we visited Little Italy. Another day we went on a tour of China town. We also visited wine country in Napa Valley/ Sonoma. Even the Tea Tasting in China Town was fun! I’m not a huge fan of football, but I even had a blast at the 49ner’s Training Camp. There are sooooo many amazing high-end stores and shopping districts to indulge in. San Francisco is big on tourism, and they have all kinds of walking tours and bus tours.  The city rich with cultural history and is filled with diversity. We had tons of adventure and fun on our trip!
