Meet Leidy Diaz | Certified Party Decorator (Balloons Artist)

We had the good fortune of connecting with Leidy Diaz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leidy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always been very crafty and loved making things with my hands, I used to make hair bows, gift bags and cute sandals for girls until I discovered the Balloon World. One day I was watching TV and saw an interview with a Balloon Artist in Miami, I immediately followed her on Instagram and signed up for her classes. I went all the way to Miami to learn the basics and get my certification. It was a very magical experience; I took my husband and 2 kids and after the 3 days training, I decided that I was going to do that to get that extra income. Little did I know that the balloon world will open several doors for me and started my own business after a year of my certification.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I am a Certified Party Decorator, I specialized in balloons. We work with all kinds of events starting with kid’s parties all the way to corporate events. The road was definitely not easy, I have encountered several challenges in this industry. When I started this business, the biggest challenge was How do I charge for this decoration and make sure I have enough profit. With the material prices that are constantly increasing, us too have to increase our prices. Unfortunately there are a lot of entrepreneurs out there trying to make a business but not charging enough for their services. I am not one that thinks that you are taking the customers away because they are offering a cheaper price, what I think is that if that customer was not for me there will be another one coming my way. Working with balloons thought me that you must be in a good mood no matter the circumstances or the balloons will not give in, and your decoration will not be the way you imagined, believe it or not the balloons have a life of their own. What makes us different from other companies is our professionalism and quick response to our inquiries, we always use high quality balloons to all our decorations to ensure customer satisfaction. Our priority is to make sure that our customer is 100% satisfied with their balloon decoration. Being a professional is what makes the difference, our professionalism start since we make the first contact with our customers, weather is via email, phone call or in person.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting the first thing will be take her to eat some good food, my favorite food are tacos or any type of Mexican food. I love those small taquerias where you know the food is authentic and delicious. One place that I will also take her is to Chuy’s Tex Mex, they have the best chips and salsa with handmade flour tortillas. For a walk we will probably go to Marietta Square and have some delicious handmade ice-cream. If there was a soccer game, we will go to an Atlanta United soccer game to feel the adrenaline of the soccer game and supporters. Another place we will visit is Helen, a small town in the mountains that has several stores we can visit and do some shopping. Lastly we will visit our famous Chattahoochee river.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The reason I started working with balloons was the great artist Luz Paz from Balloons by Luz Paz, she was my inspiration and learned a lot from her. And the person that has been by my side helping me grow and always providing his shoulder and both hands is my husband, David. I also would like to thank my 2 kids for understanding and helping me when I need them, Susete and Luis. The one behind the scenes and always there to provide his full support.
