We had the good fortune of connecting with Legend Franklin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Legend, why did you pursue a creative career?
Art & creativity has always been my strongest power. I was always creative and artistic, but I didn’t know how to showcase myself. The only way I was able to express my art was through dance, but I knew I had to figure out other ways because I’m super multitalented. I’ve always been able to do any and everything I put my mind to. Barbering is art, dance is art, rapping is art, my clothing line is art, etc. I decided that God gave me these gifts not only for myself, but for the world to see. The reason why I started my own business was to showcase my art in ways that I never could as a kid growing up. My businesses are my art!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The main thing that sets me apart from others when it comes to my artistry is my story. Everyone has a story, but everyone’s story is what makes them different. No matter what I’ve been through I’ve always overcame the pressure. Im most excited about showing the world what true perseverance looks like! There are so many people out there like me with similar stories. Becoming the person I am today took tons of work. Literal blood, sweat, and tears were needed in helping me get to where I am in life. Most importantly, the things that motivated me the most are the things that hurt me the most. Overcoming my challenges took lots of inner work and self love. I started therapy, working out more, and adjusting bad habits. I had to take my emotion out of my challenges and be more logical to get through them. Truthfully, this was not easy and it never will be, but it’s always worth the win. My brand and my story have one thing in common and that’s Originality. My brand is a reflection of me and all of my wins & losses. Im never ashamed of the life I have had to live in order to get a taste of the success, because pressure can crush you, but the pressure I endured created a diamond.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I currently live in Atlanta, Ga, but if a friend were to visit anywhere based off of my recommendation, I’d tell them to visit Venice beach in California. The reason why I choose Venice is because I love the artistry there. You never know what you will see! There are people who play instruments on the boardwalk, there are artist who paint & draw, roller skaters, skateboarders, dancers, anything you could think of! I’ve met some really cool people who share similar art & music interests with me. There are gift shops of course, hotdog stands, and a few restaurants. The beach is beautiful as well. My favorite place to eat in the Venice is Lit Burritos they have the best steak tacos!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shout-out to my mom. My mother has always been my biggest fan, my number one supporter, and my biggest inspiration. When I feel like I’m failing, I always think about how much my mother praises me and how much she genuinely is proud of the woman I’ve become. As a kid she inspired me to always persevere through any changes or experiences, whether they’re good or bad. All because of her love and encouragement, I am who I am today!
