We had the good fortune of connecting with Legend Chea – Castillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Legend, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I am a man of many talents and multiple businesses. However, the business I would like to hone in on within this article, is my passion as a Philanthropist.
As a troubled youth who needed many services in order to survive, it is my pleasure to be able to greatly impact the community and change lives. I believe that you don’t need to be rich, in order to be giving & it doesn’t cost you anything, just to be kind.
As a philanthropist, I donate my time, monetary, experience, skills & talent to help create a better world. Regardless of my current status and net worth, I got into philanthropy when I was only 20 years old.
I like to focus on projects that aim to benefit children the most. I believe that in order to greatly impact the future, you must realize that the future is now. And the children of our community are the future.
I’ve worked with numerous foundations such as Shriners Hospital, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Drug Free Coalition of Hawaii, Fostered Foundation, The Clean Water Project for Cambodia & many more.
What should our readers know about your business?
I believe what really sets me apart from other Philanthropist is the age that I grew a passion for it, and when I started to impact the world positively without having much income or resources. This showed that you can still be philanthropic without coming from wealth or having monetary donations. However, what brings similarities between my business and other philanthropist is our purpose for making the world a better place.
Nothing in life is ever easy, or else everyone would be doing it. Though, the biggest challenge for me was finding the right partners and creating the right teams that had the proper etiquette & desire. I got my business to where it is today by keeping my social circle small, consisting of only people I can trust & network with. I eliminated all distractions in my life that I feel did not align with my vision so I can keep my eyes on the prize, and not the price.
What I have learned along this journey, is that the people who come from similar backgrounds of adversity are the biggest advocates for making a difference in the world.
Some of the few things I’m very excited about in Atlanta is our upcoming Fostered Summer Camp 360 in partnership with Fostered Foundation Inc. This is a 8 week summer program created for the development of fostered and community youth in various subjects such as sports, health, music and performing arts. The Fostered Summer Camp 360 Program consists of individual mentoring, educational activities, trips, events and a rewards program.
I am also very proud to announce that on 10/15/22, $100,000 was raised towards Shriners Hospital for Children. A hospital that has been devoted to providing high-quality specialty medical care to the children and families who come to them, regardless of their ability to pay or insurance status. With continuous ongoing fundraising events, the total amount of proceeds will go towards a special event to be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025. On this day, in the city of Atlanta, over 4,000 lives are about to be changed forever.
I just want the world to know that there is hope out there and good samaritans still exist. I never forgot where I came from or what I have been through. I want the world to know that this is who I am and this is a part of my life. It means a lot to me, and with every breath inside of me, I will always help the community as much as I can, and make a difference. I will create a legacy, and inspiration for a new generation.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is such a big city with numerous pop-up events and forever ongoing activities to partake in. If I had a best friend that was visiting the area and wanted to show them the best time ever, I would work my way down starting from North Georgia, going through Gwinnet, and then eventually through Buckhead & Atlanta.
Some of the many places I would visit is:
Restaurants:
The Chatteu Elan
The Polaris Restaurant
The Sun Dial Restaurant
The Americano
The Varsity
