Meet LeAnne Mitchell | Owner & Stylist of Royal Lux Hair Studio

We had the good fortune of connecting with LeAnne Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LeAnne, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The reason I decided to pursue cosmetology and launch Royal Lux Hair Studio is because my goal was to restore faith back into the hair industry. I started taking clients during my freshman year of college. As a broke college student, I easily saw how important it was to look the part amongst my peers. I started off offering $25 traditional sew ins and my business was booming. As the hair industry evolved, parts of the experience began to become nonexistent. I started paying attention to what potential clients were saying online about the services they received. From there, I strived to be the stylist that provided services that were professional and complete. Regardless of the amount of time it takes to service the client, I am committed. Along with that, I absolutely enjoy making my clients beautiful and seeing them glow after their appointments. Royal Lux Hair Studio is now a full service salon offering shampoo services with every appointment, something that seems to be rare in the industry. I also specialize in traditional/glueless installs, loc and natural hair services.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I honestly don’t like to compare myself to others in the industry because we each have different skill sets. What I admire most about myself is my determination and creativity being a hairstylist. Building clientele and developing my craft has taken a lot of work and required me to stay focused. It is still the same till this day. The most challenging aspect thus far has been building consistent clientele and staying true to myself. We are currently in a time where many people are giving up on the industry due to the stories they’ve heard about other stylist or simply the experiences they’ve had personally. From time to time, I’ve learned to overcome that by staying consistent on social media, keeping communication open and just doing what I love to do which is hair. There are times when I want to do more so I choose to run a hair sale for the month which allows me to reconnect with new/returning clients and sometimes they are interested in trying something different. I am really big on giving back and being consistent so if there was anything I’d ever want to be remembered by it’s to never give up. My brand was built on believing in myself and pushing my boundaries. If you are an upcoming hairstylist, like myself, continue to stay focused and always be open to learning and implementing new techniques. If you find yourself being defeated by where you are compared to where you want to be constantly remind yourself that you are only going to get as far as you and your gift take you. Keep going!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta is Southern Queenz located off Moreland Ave. That would be the first place we visit. From the customer service to the cuisine and the owner herself, the restaurant is a 10/10. I’m not really a nightlife person but we’d definitely go bowling, to IPIC (my favorite theatre), enjoy a Sip & Paint hosted by The Paint Factory, of course, and definitely check out and event or three going on in the city!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Of course. I first want to give credit to God. Not only for my gift but always reminding me of my purpose in this industry which motivates me to keep going. Secondly, my clients. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am. Being a hairstylist often comes with being a therapist to. Having the opportunity to be a safe space for men and women makes my heart whole because I not only have the ability to instill confidence in each client but they know that when they sit in my chair there is a listening ear to lighten the load behind it. Im forever thankful.
