We had the good fortune of connecting with LaWanda Peters and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaWanda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always been an Entrepreneur most of my life owning several successful businesses, but after answering the call to ministry a lot changed. I had to forsake all and whole heartedly commit to the mandate that God had on my life. It’s been 25 years since I answered the call and 19 years as Overseer/Pastor of Faith & Deliverance Prophetic Ministries. When the pandemic hit, I found myself looking for something else productive to do. I’d already written several books, so that wasn’t the answer. I didn’t want to do just anything and since I am big on natural herbs, healing, self-care and helping others, I knew I wanted to do something in that area. I love a nice scented candle and how it makes me, as well as my home feel. Therefore, the idea of making my own candles became a reality. I truly believe in the scripture that your gifts will make room for you; I wanted to use my gift and talents to help others, so along with scented candles, aromatherapy candles came to mind. My pride and joy Anointed Aromas was birthed out.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Having experienced many swift transitions in life, such as: divorce, homelessness, broken relationships, low self-esteem, rejection, abandonment, and physical abuse, because of God I have emerged a powerful woman who flawlessly and effortlessly operates in the capacities of ministry, entrepreneurship, and is climbing the ranks as a best-selling author with four books under my belt.

I am the founder of a trailblazing women’s organization, Gathering of the Girls. The owner of LYP Service, a boutique that represents class and excellence. During the pandemic, I launched my pride and joy Anointed Aromas, an all natural organic hand-poured candle company. I have been a guest on several TV programs, TBN, TV57 and have been featured in several articles. In 2015, I was awarded the Black Essence Award for being a great leader in the community & for my dedicated service in ministry. In 2016, I was honored by Sheen Magazine’s I Love My Pastor, and in 2017 honored to be the Face Of A Survivor recipient by No Longer The Face Foundation.

I travel the world extensively with the objective to encourage, inspire, and impact the lives of those I come in contact with. I am a Motivational Speaker, Spiritual Life Coach, and Mentor that operates with integrity, compassion, class and style.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am big on fine dining and just good food period. I would definitely visit Chops, Frankies, Ruth Chris, STK, and maybe New York Prime. Comedy would definitely be in the line up because, why not? Laughter is good for the soul and smiling is contagious. Not to mention I have a couple of friends who are comedians, and I’m big on supporting my friends, especially those who are big on supporting me. I also love good music, so someplace that plays live music or if there is a concert, we would be going.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost God gets all the glory for every event that has taken place in my life. I come from a close knitted family, with lots of love and commitment to keeping family together. A threefold cord is not easily broken. So my mom Ann Johnson, my sisters, children and grandchildren have played an important role in my life. Also my spiritual sons, daughters and mentors who keep me on my toes. Family for me is natural and spiritual and I am grateful for them all.
