We had the good fortune of connecting with Lawanda DANi (Dan Eye) Maltimore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lawanda DANi (Dan Eye), how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
You know, finding that perfect work-life balance is like a never-ending journey for me. I’ve made some changes recently, but not necessarily in the conventional way you might expect. Yeah, I still put in long hours, but I’ve also made a conscious effort to remove certain things from my plate, tweak others, and discover new passions and pursuits to fill the gaps.
For me, it’s all about embracing the idea that I’m always evolving, always learning. I see myself as a perpetual student of life, constantly seeking out new experiences and opportunities for growth. So, while my schedule might still be jam-packed, it’s a different kind of busy—one that’s filled with purpose and excitement.
why did you pursue an artistic or creative career?
I pursued an artistic and creative career because creativity comes naturally to me, and it has been a significant part of my life for as long as I can remember. From music to acting, writing, and stage production, I’ve always found joy and fulfillment in expressing myself creatively.
As a woman, I bring a multifaceted approach to my creative endeavors. I embrace my experiences, emotions, and insights, infusing them into my work to create something authentic and relatable. It’s about harnessing the power of creativity to amplify voices, bringing people’s ideas to vision, and sparking conversations based on what I created.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Adapting to change has been key for me, both in my music career and as a graphic designer. From last-minute soundcheck adjustments to crafting compelling visual identities, I thrive on challenges. This ability to pivot seamlessly has been instrumental in my survival and success. As a graphic designer, I recognize the significance of accurately representing individuals and brands. Each project presents a unique opportunity to craft a visual identity that truly captures the essence of a person or their company. It’s a role I take seriously and approach with dedication and creativity.”
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
