We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauryn (Laurie) Bass (Bee) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauryn (Laurie), can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Nowadays, you need to have multiple sources of income. Since relocating back home to Atlanta, it has become even more clear to me that there are so many avenues to capitalize on your strengths and talents. In the few months that I’ve been settling in, I’ve networked with so many powerful gamechangers and business owners of all ages and backgrounds–which is so inspiring. With that influence, I did some market research on the things that I enjoy doing based off of what I was currently building, and from there, I rebranded my podcast platform into a hub for all kinds of health and wellness resources and boom! Blooming and Buzzing Co. was born!

What should our readers know about your business?
Blooming and Buzzing Co. is all about growth internally and externally. I have always had a passion for health and wellness which is reflected in majority of the work that I have in my portfolio. A fun fact about me is that I have a minor in Psychology! I wanted to create an avenue for me to use the knowledge that I gained in my degree from Hampton University, and utilized my podcast “Blooming and Buzzing” to share with my now 1.1K listeners on all platforms. But, I knew there was more that I could do than just storytelling or teaching lessons. So, I expanded my brand into a community! I’m so proud of what I can provide, from personal development, resume revamping and graphic design! What I believe sets me apart from others is that my background is very diverse as far as my experiences. I believe I can touch a variety of audiences who are looking to better themselves. My purpose is to uplift others, the way God uplifts me. I believe that we are all Kings and Queens, and what I always say in my podcast episodes is that I want you to feel that [your crown] every time you enter the Blooming and Buzzing space, community and episodes!

This journey wasn’t easy, no journey is. I still have so much to do to continue the process of building my brand, especially because I’ve just launched this new development. Marketing is my next step, but I am super proud of the foundation that I’ve set on our new and improved website for those to access all that Blooming and Buzzing Co. offers!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is the perfect place for a girl’s trip or staycation! There are so many photo-ops to flick up, interesting activities to take part in, and some of the best restaurants can be found here. With us now being in the new season of autumn, I would love to share my hometown gems with my friends such as: – Pumpkin patches
– Netherworld
– Beat the Bomb
– Illuminarium ATL Experience
– Ponce City Market
– Milk and Honey for brunch/ Spice House for dinner/ Sea Salt for a nighttime vibe
– Pal’s Lounge (for an underground music scene)

Atlanta is so much more than just Coca Cola, the GA Aquarium, or Tyler Perry studios and some of these places will showcase our culture!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to send love to the National Association of Black Journalists for providing me with tools and opportunities for success! Representation is such a big deal in my field of work where doors aren’t always open for young black and brown professionals. NABJ is such a safe space for talents of all ages, shapes and sizes to be cultivated and I have appreciated all the people within the organization that has poured into me.
