We had the good fortune of connecting with Laurren Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laurren, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is an essential part of life. Since the beginning of time we have risked our safety, comfort, livelihood and resources in order to step into the unknown and continue to create the future. For me risk has been the core driver and birthplace of my brand and business Trauma Queen Therapeutics. It took the risk of investing my time, money and effort into coaching and Mentorship to help develop my craft. It took the risk of sharing my intimate truths, raw unfiltered wisdom and knowledge into the online space. It took the risk of believing in myself beyond doubt from loved ones, peers and the status quo to lean into a world that has changed my life forever. Without risk there would be no future.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business journey has been one of immense self emergence & transformation. I truly feel that business is the most intimate & spiritual experience I have ever encountered next to the birth of my son. The birth of Trauma Queen Therapeutic came forth from sheer commitment to my personal development, inner and outer work. Unlike many business owners, my business thrives alongside my healing journey. I simply got tired of seeing other coaches/ mentors/ healers speak from a place of completion and perfection and knew it was my calling to share from a place of transparency, struggle and will power. I had a beautiful soul DM me once telling me that I “Lead while I Bleed” and that’s exactly what I feel my business aims to ignite in others.

When I decided to step into entrepreneurship I was a tired/ overworked massage therapist yearning for a way to use my voice, knowledge & leadership skills to be a force of change. All I can say is that I knew there was more waiting for me on the other side of following the same routine eventually leading to burnout but it took a lot to finally say yes to the bigger vision in my minds eye.

When the time was right the opportunity came for me to work with my business coach Melissa Ruiz in her 8-week group coaching program Unleash & Unveil your Soul Business along with joining the Somatic Experiencing Institute at the top of 2020.

These two investments were incredibly uncomfortable; challenging me financially, mentally & spiritually to level up and actualize the healing vision I had for the world. But when I committed to the process I was able to launch my business in the heart of the pandemic & impact the lives of many struggling during this difficult time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is home to so many amazing people places and things! As a person who is plant-based and simply a boujie foodie food always is the focal point of my stay. When visiting I’m always sure to stop by the beautiful and historic Tassili’s Raw Reality Cafe where the entire menu is raw vegan & practically an orgasm in your mouth! I mean my fav item on the menu is called The Punani! From there I’d make sure to stop over at Reviv Movement and see one of my favorite body workers & mentors Jordan Coburn for a Reviv Treatment that will make you feel like a brand new person! From there ATL pretty much becomes and spontaneous experience at night you’ll never know where you’ll end up as there are so many places to get lit and have fun with friends but when everything starts to close there’s only one After hours spot you’ll find me and that’s Fun in EAV After Hours hosted by my beautiful friend @iloveyoufun !

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many feet and hands that played a role in paving the way for me to emerge as an entrepreneur. Firstly I’d like to shoutout my ancestors who opened the way (through healing and through karma) for me to exist in the world of Somatic Healing. I’d also like to thank my soulful business coach & Mentor Melissa Ruiz abs the whole Unleash & Unveil tribe for believing in me & sewing endless time and energy into every stage of my business journey so far. Lastly I’d like to thank my family. My parents sisters, son, cousins and best friend for supporting, inspiring and holding me along this rollercoaster ride of a journey.
