Hi Laurie, how does your business help the community?
Our mission is to empower children with elevated and cultivated experiences, equipping them with the tools necessary to navigate the world with confidence, peace, and purpose. We aim to fill the void left by
traditional educational and parental experiences by providing resources that promote personal growth and resilience. We believe in the power of proactive change and reject complacency. By instilling in children the mantra of ‘Be the change you want to see in this world,’ we inspire them to take action and make a positive difference in their lives and communities.
At Be The Change, we are committed to changing the trajectory of our children’s lives, offering them options and opportunities they may not have realized were available. Our ultimate goal is to empower children to chart their own paths, free from limitations and equipped with the knowledge and confidence to seize every opportunity for growth and success.

How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way.

By not waiting for the “perfect time” to follow through with the assignment I received from God. This journey has not been easy. It’s been a complete faith walk and very fulfilling each step of the way. I started my charity with no business plan, no funding just faith and discipline. Every golden link that I was in need of to get to where I’m at today has been provided in divine timing every step of the way. I say all of this so that people understand what’s meant for you will be for you. Stop sitting around waiting for the “perfect time” to start. There’s no such thing. Get up, get unstuck, get uncomfortable and bet on yourself before your time is up. We are all here to fulfill many purposes. I encourage everyone to sit still and hone in on just one and put all of your trust in God. If it can happen for me it can happen for the person who’s reading this article.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

I’m a visionary on a mission to uplift underprivileged children through my nonprofit endeavors. Growing up my father was a respected leader and a pillar within my community. I experienced firsthand the positive impact of exposure to diverse experiences.

Driven by a desire to pay it forward, I founded my nonprofit to provide children from underserved backgrounds with access to similar opportunities. Through initiatives ranging from golf outings to museum visits and self-esteem-building workshops. I’m aiming to equip children with the skills and confidence needed to navigate life successfully.

Beyond merely filling the gaps left by absent parents and under-resourced schools my vision extends to fostering a generation of empowered individuals who can navigate life’s challenges with grace, resilience and emerge as capable leaders for tomorrow.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost I would like to dedicate my shoutout to the Creator. There is no way I would be here today doing this type of work without his grace, favor and mercy. It’s no better feeling than to know that I’m in alignment and fulfilling one of the many purposes God has on my life.

Second I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my father. He is the one responsible for planting the seed of giving back through exposure and diverse experiences. In essence I’m carrying the torch he lit years ago just on a bigger platform to reach more people that are in need.

Third I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my team at Be The Change because this type of work takes a village. There is no way I would have got this far in my journey in such a short (1 year) timeframe if I didn’t have the love and support from my COO, CFO, Board Members, Volunteers, Donors and partnering organizations. There is so much power in partnerships and collaborations! I just want to say thank you to them from the bottom of my heart for joining forces with me and I’m forever grateful!
