We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve been a bit of a serial entrepreneur through the years, but the past few years helping my husband launch his company into the world ignited a new passion. He runs Yonder Agency, a digital marketing agency and works with a lot of small businesses to get them fully seen online. I saw over and over that our clients seemed to stray from their goals or original business vision because they would get lost in the overwhelm of keeping business running. It is just so easy to get lost in trying to outrun the competitors and lose your own business identity. Last summer, I joined forces with a friend to launch a women’s networking group (The Curated Project) and saw again, just how much business owners need an encourager and cheerleader to stay the course. I found that coaching these ladies came naturally and was so inspiring to me. My husband encouraged me to take the leap and let my passion become my business.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Embolden Business Coaching was born a need I saw in my own life and in so many others. I don’t know about you, but I can create some awesome goals. However, executing those goals is a different story. I spent a little over a year seeking counsel and working through self reflection to see how to overcome these roadblocks. I’ve done the work myself and I know first hand how to walk beside someone that is trying to achieve goals and cast vision for their business. My approach is working with the business owner first. Once we have a better grasp on what’s happening individually, then we can move forward with business adjustments and how to meet your goals.
Coaching is something I’ve done my whole life…now I’m just getting paid for it! I am still working on building my business and it is not without its challenges. One thing I know for sure though is to just keep going. One day at a time, one decision at a time is the best way to get to where you’re going.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Canton, GA is my current hometown, just north of Atlanta. It’s perfectly situated between a ton of amazing things to do and see!
In Canton, we’d definitely go to The Mill on Etowah for shopping, drinks, dinner and live music. Another favorite Canton spot to eat is Local on North.
A trip to Gibbs Gardens is a lovely retreat from the busyness of life.
Another day we would travel south to downtown Marietta – my absolute favorite town square. Shopping and snacks are a given.
Of course you can’t forget Ponce City Market and the rooftop activities.
Sunday yoga and brunch at Bent Tree Lodge & Vineyard in Jasper is an absolute MUST.
Honestly, the remaining time would probably be spent checking out other cute towns like Blue Ridge and Alpharetta.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely a shoutout belongs to my ladies at The Curated Project Womens Networking Group. They let me come alongside them and give them coaching advice which created a new passion to get certified and launch Embolden Business Coaching.
I certainly couldn’t do any of this without the support and encouragement of my husband, Chris.
