Meet Lauren Sanders | Owner & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Sanders and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well, I will start by saying this: starting a business is more than just a notion. I actually had several business ideas before this particular one. But I knew this was different. I was first introduced to the concept of a mobile photobooth at a birthday party. Everyone that used it seemed to be having so much fun, so I decided to give it a try as well. Well count me among those that were impressed because I love a good picture, especially a selfie. Putting all of this together is when I knew it was exactly the kind of investment I wanted to make. I know personally several party planners as well as event space owners; I introduced the idea to them, and the support was phenomenal. It’s such a fun idea and it’s versatile, regardless of the event. We offer our services for baby showers, birthday parties, wedding receptions, corporate events, and people that just want to celebrate life. My photobooth is guaranteed to keep all attendees engaged. Most importantly, as someone who has hosted parties only to realize that I haven’t taken a single picture of anyone, it is a great way to capture those special moments for years to come.
Everything is customized and tailored to each client. We work with each client to get their likes and dislikes to ensure that their setup will be one they can be proud to show off. Being a new mom with a hectic schedule has not been easy, but I wanted to still start my own business and more importantly not embark on something that would require too much of my time away from my children.
Unlike some of my other business ideas, this allows me to have more time dedicated to my primary job and family! Because it’s very easy to use, in most cases once I set up the booth, I can leave instructions to the host and guests, and they can operate it at their leisure

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Aside from owning Pic ONE PhotoBooth Co and being a mom, I work full-time as a Principal Court Clerk here in Birmingham. So many responsibilities that keep me busy but I’ve never been afraid of hardwork and learning something new. Having that mindset has played a huge part in my success and several promotions over the last 10 years. Through hard work and a lot of determination, I’ve gotten to where I am. I’ve also gained a great family of coworkers, both past and present, who’ve helped me gain the experience I need to be the great team leader I continue to strive to be each day.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love this question because as a Birmingham native, I love to show off the city that I callhome. It definitely lives up to its name as the Magic City, boasting of great nightlife, top-tier sports (ROLL TIDE), art, and a fast-growing foodie scene. If I had a friend visiting, I would have a variety of things planned for them. We would definitely go to Railroad Park, where we would find music artists playing, activities for the kids, yoga, picnic-goers and people whirling by on skates, skateboards and scooters. Nestled in the middle of downtown, it gives an incredible 360 view of what the city really is. We would grab a couple mimosas during brunch at one of my favorite spots, Ruby Sunshine. It would be a must to capture the history of this city by visiting Sixteenth Street Baptist Church and the Civil Rights Museum If they wanted to grab a piece of nature, I would suggest the Botanical Gardens. If nightlife is more their speed, we would head over to Lakeview District or Avondale to have a nightcap because anywhere in those areas will guarantee a great time. Sidenote: hopefully the visit would be during Christmas, which would give me the perfect reason to go to the Alabama Theater to catch a classic Christmas movie!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First of all, GOD! He has blessed me beyond measure! There are days when things seem impossible but I find peace and comfort and knowing He has prepared the way for me.
