We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Freeman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks is how I started my business. I had never even picked up a professional camera until the year I started my business. It was a big investment of time and money. I went for it and am thankful every day that I did. Taking the risk at starting a business with no experience changed my life, along with my family’s. Take the risk, make the jump.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a Lifestyle family photographer is incredibly rewarding. I love being able to freeze moments in time for families to be able to cherish for a lifetime. And on top of that I am able to create art out of it for my clients to be able to display and enjoy in their home. Over the last 4 years I have put in so much work to be where I am. I have taken numerous mentorships, classes, and workshops. Being a photographer comes with many challenges but surrounding yourself with the right people and investing in your craft with make those challenges a little easier to overcome.
Some things I have learned is to not get caught in the comparison game. Your art is your own. Remember that and don’t let go of it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of my favorite things to do over a long weekend are morning rides on the paddle board over Lake Lanier with mimosa, of course. Lunch at CT Cantina in the Halcyon and shopping after or wine, cheese and sunshine at my favorite vineyard Cavender Creek Winey. It’s hard to choose. Dinner at Iron Age because it’s such an amazing experience.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is so much credit deserved to so many people for where I am today! My mentors, Alyssa Hollis, Amanda Highbarger, Amanda Knox. My family, I would not be where I am without them. And the community I have surrounded myself with Lucki Malloy, Courtney Lawson & Sandy Griffin. These ladies are such an amazing supportive group of photographers.
