We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Winkler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laura, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I feel our business helps other businesses in our local community in several ways. When people book a wedding with us, they then typically go to a local baker for their cake; a local florist for their floral needs; a local caterer for the catering; and probably most helpful to the community is lodging. We try to send people to places other than hotels here so they get the full mountain experience and suggest they rent cabins in our community.
What should our readers know about your business?
Our business is special to me because we built it from the ground up. We have 5 children who were in college when we built it so they would stain boards and help with decorating ideas, and everyone has had a hand in this project. One thing I feel that sets us apart from others is our commitment to make every transaction personal. I become friends with the brides and families that we have and want them to have the most perfect experience with us. We aim to make everyone feel very welcomed!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Blairsville is a great area! When people come here they can hike to Brasstown Bald, or many other trails, go golfing, rent a boat to go on Lake Nottely, visit our quaint little shops in town and eat at many restaurants. We also have a local distillery, Granddaddy Mimm’s, that offers drinks & tours!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband is definitely a huge part of this! He did the design and building aspects of our buildings and gave me confidence to do all the decorating and details. He is my biggest supporter!!
