We had the good fortune of connecting with Latricia Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Latricia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was the desire to build something for my kids. I want to build an empire that will produce an entrepreneur spirit in my kids, grandkids and great grandkids. In addition, while providing financial freedom for myself as well. Although, my corporate career has been rewarding and successful, I want to do more of what I love so it does not feel like work.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have a vision & goals for my life and I take it serious. I do what is necessary that will help me reach and succeed. I am a active and strong believer in education. I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Organizational & Leadership & I was recently inducted in the National Society of Leadership and Success which is my latest accomplishment. Although, I still work a 9-5 job daily, I am business minded and love to mentor and empower other women to reach their full potential. Therefore, I use my influence to motivate and encourage others in all that I do. I am known for providing life skills coaching & business consulting/coaching to many women. I do this through my Consulting/coaching business – Back 2 Business Consulting. This business allows me to share my knowledge and experience with others. However, I am most proud of my nonprofit, The Chasity Taylor Foundation, the organization that I am the CEO/Founder. Over the past 5 years we have done so many awesome things to help impact the families in our community. My vision for the Foundation is that each year we’re able to reach more and more people through our services. Professionally, I have a full plate but I would not change one thing. Building a Empire/Legacy is important to me and I understand nothing comes without hard work, dedication & sacrifice.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When family comes to visit me in Florida, it’s often hard to know just where to take them as I am always working or studying. However, here in Jacksonville the Metro Dinner is a little hot spot for breakfast or lunch. This spot is best known for their chicken & waffles and their shrimp & grits. For Dinner I would suggest maybe a place like J. Alexander for an upscale night out. But for a fun & relax dinner night I would keep it simple and recommend a place such as Cheddars or Jacksonville Ale House on a Friday night for laughs, and great food especially during football season. We can’t leave out the St John’s Town Center for a fun day of shopping. Of course, you can’t come to Florida without experiencing the beach life for a day/evening outing with fun on the beach and food. To extend the fun, we could take a short 2 hour trip to Orlando to indulge in the festivities there for the day. Also, depending on the guest interest, Jacksonville has some cool museums, Art galleries and Jazz spots. The city has many unique and interesting things to do based on the season.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to definitely shoutout my mom. I would not be the woman I am today, if it wasn’t for her teaching me that no matter what hand your dealt it’s up to you to create your path in life. She has shown me how determination, hard-work, and focus wins every time. Also, If you want something as a woman then work hard and go get it. Don’t allow the words can’t and quit to be apart of your vocabulary. I have also become inspired by many other women along the way and each piece of wisdom has allowed me to stand as the woman I am today. Therefore, I push myself, I don’t give up on my dreams and I spread the same message to other women I come in contact with.
