Hi Latrice, can you tell us about a book that has had a meaningful impact on you?
The Purpose Driven Life: by Rick Warren . I received “The Purpose Driven Life” as a graduation gift after completing high School. I gave the book my serious attention when I found myself at at crossroads my junior year in college. I became perplexed regarding choosing a career that I was passionate about or choosing a career that was financially more appealing. Taking the 40 day spiritual journey allowed me to realize “Nothing matters more than knowing God ‘s purposes for your life, and nothing can compensate for not knowing them — not success, wealth, fame, or pleasure. It was through the reading of this book I learned the the reciprocal value of Purpose and Passion.”

In addition, God spoke to me and said you are “Called To Encourage” to which I replied “God encouraging people does not make money”. Over 15 years later, I would have a private practice named ” Called2EncourageInc”.

I am a highly skilled and empathetic Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 14 years of work in mental health, social services, and substance abuse. I help others get clarity about their journey so they can
walk into their purpose with confidence.

Called2EncourageInc mission is to assist individuals in facilitating change, maximize their potential, so they can boldly embark upon their purpose with confidence and clarity. From Adolescence to Adulthood I struggled with self-love, identity and intimacy. Now I want to use my expertise to empower others to win within. My personal struggles has fueled my inspiration behind the mission to impact inspire, influence and encourage others to reach their maximum potential and easily maneuver through life triumphantly despite trials.

I aspire to teach others that it is possible to live triumphantly through life’s transitions, master the art of consistently reaching unfathomable goals, and tap into their unlimited potential. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit me for a week, Monday , Tuesday and Thursday were going to attend Tailored Fitness for a workout because its a routine part of my self- care regimen. Wednesday Night is my social night , so were heading to Atomic or to kick it at the K-Bar. If were eating on any day , were having ” Ro’s Famous Chicken Salad or Not Your Average leaf” which are some hidden gems in the city. Friday is my off day , So I love starting the day with a Hike at Ruffner Mountain. Lastly , I end my week with “DateNiteWithJesus” which typically consist of spending intentional time with God through worship, prayer and mediation.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am Honored to “Shout Out” Terra Avery, who highly impacted my life as my 11th grade English teacher. Ms. Avery saw greatness in me at the time that was unrealized. Her encouragement pushed me to academically do better and pursue a college education. It was William Arthur Ward who stated ” The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires” ’ Ms. Avery thanks for being a stellar teacher and Mentor.
