We had the good fortune of connecting with LaTrecia Chambry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaTrecia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I want to be great for myself not my employer. I chose this career to help others and afford the lifestyle I deserve. Continuing to help someone else’s practice, name and wealth thrive only secured a pay check that is not equal to the time and care I give. It’s time to be great for ME.

What should our readers know about your business?
Queenies Beauty Your skin deserves Royalty. Clinical grade skincare products and services for skin of color and all skin types. I’m a licensed esthetician of more than 20 years and I love to teach and learn. I’m proud that I overcame my fear to step up and bet on myself. If I’m the best for them as an employee. I’ll be the best for me and relieve my anxiety and gain inner peace by being my own boss! I knew I didn’t want the corporate job life, but knew nothing else really. Corporate makes me fake like I care about what I do daily, pretending the company cares for you and your coworkers, carrying the workload as the black female and being paid the least. The feeling and nagging in my mind that I did not want this corporate career life was constant. Choosing esthetician school was easy the projections of what the Industry would be like in 2020 was accurate and I’ve always had an esthetic eye for luxury and beauty. It’s wasn’t easy at all passing state boards in 2002 when spa’s were my major choice and based on commission. I continued to work corporate and spa part-time. Finally in 2018 came back full-time and observed and learned from each experience I had. Queenie was the name given to me by my Grandpa as a little girl. I deserve royalty and so do my clients. you are treated as a king or queen and your skin will reflect the quality and care of a noble one. I want to help people love what they see looking in the mirror. I know what it’s like to hate what you see. Loving your skin and your face will boost confidence and happiness. We all should feel and look like Royalty.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The belt line is cool. I don’t go out often. This is where you can see people, art, walk eat and drink. We would people watch.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Spending time alone manifesting and talking to God. I’m private and have very few in my circle. My clients have been my biggest encouragement. My clients are my support. Clients recognize my time spent with them and and results from my time and effort given in their services. I’ve worked with plastic surgeons and dermatologists that I have acquired knowledge and skill from, but mentorship or love no.
