We had the good fortune of connecting with LaTrece Shy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaTrece, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Well for starters my nickname as a baby was and still is “Sweetbaby” I’m told I was a sweet baby.
Growing up I’d help my grandma and granny in the kitchen, that’s where I developed my love to bake!
Id bake cakes just for fun, so much to the point people begin ordering and paying me to make cakes for them.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Getting to where I am today has not been easy, it takes a lot of practice and long dedicated hours. I’m self taught and am always looking to grow! Some of the challenges I’ve faced/am facing is building my clientele back up as I had to put my business on a sudden hold due to my son having cancer. Today he has a clean bill of health and I’m ready to jump back into it full fledge! The lessons I’ve learned along the way is that “things can be fixed” and all things come together for the good of them that love the Lord! I’ve always wanted to do wedding cakes and once I conquered that I was ready to make them better and better! I want the world to know that set a goal and work towards it! Hard work pays off and you can’t give up on yourself even when you want to!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’re going somewhere to get some good lamb chops, listen to live music or even a fun day out go cart riding or going to an escape room.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My granny Delores Davis and my late grandma Arlene Shy!
