We had the good fortune of connecting with LaToya Ball and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaToya, what makes you happy? Why?
What makes me happy? So much, life, the opportunity I have everyday to do something I love and to know and see the direct impact, but what really makes me happy is seeing black entrepreneurs serve, strive and thrive! We have lived by everyone’s else’s standards for so long, but making our own rules, and using our talents and skills, to build on our own terms, and find true happiness and peace in our purpose truly fills my heart with joy, makes me proud and keeps a smile on my face.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have a virtual assistant and operational consulting firm that serves a community serving a community! I look to assist entrepreneurs and business owners create policies and procedures, to not only reclaim their time, but I want to offer them their time back to pour into into their passion. I manage back offices, create systems, offer customer service, and pour what I can into business owners. Being an entrepreneur you pour everything you have and can into your business, but who pours back into those entrepreneurs…ME. I want to offer financial planning, emotional and mental health support to all business owners I work with, especially those who are not just in it for the money but really are serving the community with their purpose. I am excited for the possibilities that each of my entrepreneur has. Seeing others grow and reach their potential and happiness, and being a part of that is exciting for me! How did I get to here today THE BLOOD! LOL GOD keeps me covered, this is one of the hardest things I have done and talk about stepping out of your comfort zone SHEESH this is not a step but a leap out of my comfort zone. Now thanks to my mommy I color when I’m stressed and just need a moment to come back to my peace. Also my clients, some have made it very far in the business game and that is encouraging. The biggest lesson I have learned quite a few lessons, DISCIPLINE man oh man, disciplining myself has been a challenge, but absolutely necessary. BOUNDARIES vital lesson. I had to have some uncomfortable but mandatory conversations with clients and the company I keep to build and establish boundaries. My time is mine and I can not sacrifice that for money. I want the world to know that Pivotal Operations Practice is not just here to provide admin or operational support but assistants are your back bone. I won’t only serve your business but you too. YOU are just as important to me as your business because without a healthy happy you, no business!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well DC Is known NATION WIDE for its notorious brunch spots, so the days would begin at local hot black spots with the best brunch. Creole on 14th, Mr. Braxton’s, Kitchen Cray, Milk and Honey Cafe, Po Boy Jim. After that we have to go past the historic site of Martin Luther King Jr. memorial, the African American History and Culture museum, the historic Howard University to be surrounded by black excellence, the Frederick Douglass and Mary McCleoud Bethune house, Black Lives Matter Plaza. Nothing like a little shopping, we gotta visit New Digz Consignment shop for the best boutique style items, Mahogany Books, because I LOVE LOVE LOVE to read, and MESS in a Bottle- gotta wear clothes with a message. Its a must to visit Baltimore, its so much culture in this city, music and the best seafood, best real estate options to invest in, and that accent is a one of a kind lol I LOVE IT! And because I’m a foodie great happy hour and dinner spots, Union District Oyster, Langston Bar and Grille, HalfSmoke, FishScale and Krab King. We would have to do some self care so mani and pedi by The PrettyPolish Bar and The Winedown. We can always catch a good comedy show at the Baltimore Comedy Factory. I’m a homebody and like to keep it simple so between Netflix and chill, we going to eat good, look good, and BUY BLACK.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the encouragement and support of my husband. This had to be the most scariest time of my life so far, but with his support the transition wasn’t as hard lol. Even my hardest days, through the rejections he is constantly telling me how strong I am and how I was built for this. Not sure if I believe it, lol, but knowing that he believes in me keeps me going! I also have to recognize some of my favorite entrepreneurs in the game, that without their testimony I would give up. So shoutout the emphasis, beautiful, major Ms. MiaRay of Glamaholic Lifestyle and Ms. Zakia Blain of FBFBody. I also like to shoutout my dad and cousin Kim Daily. If nobody is going to bet on themselves they did. To see my dad do what he had to do regardless of what anybody said he couldn’t or laugh at, when he said he was going to do it, its DONE! No if ands or what had happened was. True definition of your word is your bond! My cousin Kim Daily literally walked away from good money, for her peace. I admire anybody that doesn’t put a price on their happiness.
