We had the good fortune of connecting with Latonya Patterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Latonya, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
To be honest I never had a thought behind starting my own business because all my life I was told I would never be or amount to anything. Sometimes we become what others plant in us. When I started this, it wasn’t meant to be a business but a direction of Hope and Guidance for our Youth in the Community who were Young Parents.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
First I would like to say this isn’t WORK I’m dedicated too but PURPOSE. Serving Young Parents give me complete Joy. It started with my son becoming a Father at 16 & a Single Father at 17. Watching what him & the mother of his child endured, made me realize: Generational Curses are definitely real, Learned Behaviors are definitely real & Toxic Behaviors were real. Something needed to be done, not only to redirect my child but other Youth who were Young Parents. Starting The Foundation wasn’t easy because it was PERSONAL, I was working a 9-5, raising my own children and now a grand son fulltime. I took our Family negative endurance and turned them into POSITIVITY. At that moment I realized my son was repeating a cycle because my Purpose was to help BREAK anything further. It was nothing but GOD who helped me overcome all the challenges I endured, because I never knew anything about starting a business let alone a Charity organization. I’ve learned to keep Faith along the way. I want the World to know there is Hope and Purpose in all of us and my Foundation is the perfect example of that.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
What I consider fun may not be fun to others because I consider Grounding, Healing and Finding your true Authenticity fun.

Morning: Langan (Municipal Park) 4901 Zeigler Mobile, Alabama 36608 to: Meditate, journal, color, sunbathe, & walk.

Lunch: Vegan Time 2301 Airport Blvd Mobile Alabama 36606
To show them what healthy eating can do for their Spirit.

Evening: Vibe Showband at House of Vibe Wellness & Nutrition: 3526 Hallsmill Road Mobile Alabama 36693 to enjoy a live band with healthy drinks and environment.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Oldest Children Jabriel Calhoun & Janiyah Calhoun who both were Teen Parents. If it wasn’t for their Trials and Tribulations I wouldn’t be as Motivated as I am to make a DIFFERENCE in our Community and Worldwide with Youth who are Young Parents.
