We had the good fortune of connecting with Latia Rowland and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Latia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Launching my accounting business stemmed from a passion for helping small and medium-sized enterprises navigate financial complexities. I envisioned a firm that goes beyond routine services, offering personalized strategies and leveraging technology for efficiency. The goal is to be a dedicated partner, providing proactive advice and contributing to long-term business success. My vision centers on a client-centric approach, combining technical expertise with a forward-thinking mindset to meet immediate needs and foster sustained growth.
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets my business apart is our unwavering commitment to innovation and client satisfaction. I take immense pride in our ability to tailor solutions that go beyond expectations, addressing the unique needs of each client. My success is not just about numbers; it’s about building lasting relationships and contributing to the success stories of those we serve.
Getting to where I am today was not an easy journey. Like any entrepreneur, I faced challenges that tested my resilience and determination. These obstacles were opportunities for growth, and I overcame them by staying adaptable, learning from setbacks, and surrounding myself with a dedicated team.
The key lessons I’ve learned along the way include the importance of embracing change, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and staying true to my core values. Challenges are inevitable, but they also present opportunities to innovate and refine our approach.
What I want the world to know about my brand is that I am not just a number cruncher; I am a strategic partner invested in clients’ prosperity. My story is one of resilience, expertise, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on businesses. By choosing my firm, clients gain a dedicated ally focused on their financial success and armed with the knowledge and tools to navigate the complexities of the modern business landscape.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Throughout the week, I’d make sure to introduce my best friend to the diverse and vibrant communities, delicious local cuisine, and the rich history that Hampton Roads has to offer. It’s a perfect blend of relaxation, cultural exploration, and outdoor adventure!
On the first day as a little introduction to Hampton Roads, we would grab brunch at ‘The Handsome Biscuit’ in Norfolk. Then explore the historic Norfolk Naval Base and take a harbor tour to learn about the area’s rich maritime history.
Day two would have to be a beach day! We will head to Virginia Beach Boardwalk for a morning stroll and breakfast at ‘Doc Taylor’s.’ Then spend the day at Sandbridge Beach for a more serene and less crowded beach experience, and cap off the day with a seafood delight at ‘Waterman’s Surfside Grille.’
It is only right that on the third day we dive into the cultural immersion of Hampton Roads by visiting the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, then have lunch at ‘Norfolk Taproom’ and explore the NEON Arts District. We can end the day off by experiencing live music at ‘The NorVA’ or catch a show at the Virginia Stage Company.
Now to get into some outdoor adventure on day four, we will definitely have to hike or bike the scenic trails at First Landing State Park. We can then grab lunch at ‘Citrus’ in Virginia Beach. And then my absolute favorite, explore the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center and another seafood feast at ‘Rockafeller’s Restaurant.’
We would have to bring it “across the water” to experience some true history of Virginia out in Colonial Williamsburg for a step back in time. We can have lunch at ‘Shield Tavern’ and explore the historic area. And end the day of by going to ‘Ripley’s Believer it or Not!’, and another one of my favorites, miniature golfing at ‘Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf.’
Day six, we will take it back across the water to take a stroll through Norfolk’s Botanical Garden and end it with a dinner at ‘Viola! Cuisine Internationale.’
Finally on the last day, we will have a final brunch at ‘Baker’s Crust’ before saying our farewells!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe the success of my business to my incredible mother. Her unwavering support, guidance, and sacrifices have been the driving force behind my journey as an entrepreneur. From instilling values of hard work to providing emotional support during challenging times, she has been my pillar of strength. Mom, your wisdom and encouragement have played a pivotal role in shaping my entrepreneurial spirit. I am profoundly grateful for the lessons learned and the love that fuels my ambition. This business is not just mine; it’s a reflection of the values you instilled in me. Thank you for being my inspiration and the foundation of my success.
