We had the good fortune of connecting with Latesha Isbell Howard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Latesha, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite quote/affirmation is actually a bible verse, Proverbs 31:25. “She is clothed in strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” This verse reminds me to hold my head high regardless of what chaos is going on in my life. There is no reason to fear what’s around the corner. God’s got my back!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My superpower is empowering our communities through entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and real estate investing; hence the name ‘The Savvy Diva.’ The mission of Savvy Diva Enterprises is to advance economic opportunities in communities of color by supporting black women-owned businesses with advocacy, education, resources, and access to capital. We are the catalyst to close the 90% racial wealth gap facing black women.
I also offer coaching and access to funding to invest in real estate. 90% of the world’s millionaires have created wealth by investing in real estate, so its important for Black families, as well as women, to leverage these strategies to build wealth. I’m helping families break generational curses one investment at a time.
We also help you get business credit for your company EIN that’s not linked to your personal credit. This means that lower income families or those with bad credit can get funds too. Secure HIGH-limit vendor, store, fleet, and cash credit in your business name without a personal guarantee or personal credit check. No collateral or cash flow is required for approval. We also have access to lenders for other funding options, such as small business loans and information on grant opportunities.
My proudest accomplishment, by far, has been the launch of the Finesse Your Fear Entrepreneurship Academy. Through the 1k to $100k initiative, we’re helping to expand economic opportunity for female entrepreneurs in communities of color. Students in the academy experience a robust 12-week online curriculum designed to equip them to start and run a profitable business. I’m so proud of the results that I’m seeing in my students!
Our next big thing is the launch of a small business incubator in my hometown of Birmingham, AL. We are currently seeking the funding to make this vision a reality, and we’re already getting a lot of support from the local community. Stay tuned!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a pretty simple girl… One of my favorite restaurants in the city is Kabob Land. The food is flavorful and the vibe is fun (try the salmon kabob with the spicy green sauce and thank me later!). If I’m in the mood to hang out, I enjoy going to TopGolf. Golf is always more fun with good food and drinks. I’d also take my friend to a new spot in Jonesboro called Nouveau. I haven’t been yet, but I’ve heard nothing but good things from friends.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
No one in my life has been more impactful than my mother. She instilled in me a spirit of excellence and selflessness. She constantly reminds me that there are no limits to what I can accomplish and taught me what it means to be resilient. I had no idea how important that would be until I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. And more than anything, she taught me how to pray and be grateful, even in the midst of adversity. She’s my rock!
