Meet LaTavia Roberson | Public Figure & Motivational Speaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with LaTavia Roberson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaTavia, what do you attribute your success to?

Being that I’m a native of the greatest city; Houston TX , I am a founding member of the iconic group, standing alongside Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and LeToya Luckett ; Destiny Child. Being in a city where I love & creating history is just magical.  It has been an honor creating a legacy with these beautiful ladies. Destiny Child was a proud accomplishment, a legacy I help build.  Although surprisingly I didn’t have girl group dreams. I started out modeling in hopes to become an actress one day. That’s how I initially found my way to Destiny Child through my modeling agency.

I had no ideas then that Destiny Child would be the start of my career,; a legacy for both Houston & pop culture.  Being that I departed in 2000 I think the most important factor behind  my success was my DC best friends & family. Without a great support system I wouldn’t be LaTavia Roberson today; sold over 25 million records & 2 x grammy award winner. This moment in my life has taught me how to be authentic and raw .

Now 42 I’m deciding to make a comeback. I was on a hiatus for 20 years from the industry but I’m stronger than ever., picking up the pieces starting with a long dream of mines., a cosmetics collection. Beauty & fashion has been apart of my life starting at the age of 9.

As I enter into the beauty industry partnership with Bouji Lip Cosmetics I am reminded everyday to not limit myself. I am super excited for this journey and I encourage everyone to find  their purpose.  I have made peace with my past  and this time around, I’m  back and more formidable than ever.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I has dedicated myself to my  nonprofit organization, Le Papillon Foundation, a name resonating with my French heritage, translating to “butterfly.”

Le Papillon Foundation is a Non Profit Organization that is purposed to encourage and empower our teenage girls to young adult girls to blossom into their full potential.
We engage our youth through focus programming, public speaking, and producing self-growth related content that is distributed via various platforms.. 

I can share it with other young girls to let them know we are beautiful. No matter what society says,  no matter what anybody says about us. We are who we are, embrace it.

In addition to my nonprofit, as I mentioned before I have partner with Bouji Lip Cosmetics by starting my own cosmetics collection; The Queens Kollection.  I am super excited about this opportunity. Fashion & beauty has been apart of my world since the moment I joined with Destiny Child. This Kolkection is going to be fire & it represent me very well.  You’re absolutely going to love it.

I’m also keeping a foot in the music industry, managing my R&B artist Roland Champaine, who has scored features with Houston legends like Paul Wall.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

While my story undeniably warrants a tell-all memoir, I remain hopeful, pacing myself to unfold each aspect with the thoughtful grace that has defined me and my journey . Ive inherited immense strength, and resilience and is ready without a doubt to take on whatever life throws at me.

One thing is for certain , it made me the person that I am today unapologetically. I appreciate  my family, my team, my kids, my fans most importantly and my sisters  for life;  Destiny Child Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and LeToya Luckett  for all the memories we’ve shared  over the years. Even through all of the downfalls, the heartaches, the uncertainties and  everything that I’ve been through. It’s made me the person that I am and I’m still climbing to reach my greater.
