We had the good fortune of connecting with Latashanna Ransom and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Latashanna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It all began two months after I graduated from college, earning a Bachelor’s in Mass Communications with a minor in Psychology. I had a vision—I wanted to step into the world of news anchoring, to be the voice behind the camera, keeping the community informed and fulfilling what I believed was my life’s purpose: to serve. However, my ambitions faced a hurdle during my last semester at college when COVID-19 struck, disrupting everything.

The pandemic threw a wrench into my plans; internships got canceled, and most job opportunities turned me away, citing my lack of experience fresh out of college. They couldn’t train new hires due to stringent regulations. It was devastating. I realized I needed to pivot, to carve a new path out of Mississippi and discover my true passions and identity.

During this time, I ran a plus-size boutique, unknowingly navigating through sales weekly without a concrete understanding of what I was doing. However, I inadvertently excelled in marketing. People began to inquire about my website, social media strategies, and engaging captions. Little did they know, I was honing these skills in preparation for a news position that, unfortunately, didn’t materialize post-graduation.

Drawing from my college knowledge—video editing, crafting press releases, and establishing a professional social media presence—I transformed my setback into an opportunity. I’ve since assisted over 500 entrepreneurs, conducting workshops, hosting brunches, offering consultations, and managing their social media. Today, I proudly embrace the title of a Social Media Strategist, leveraging the lessons learned and experiences encountered along my unique journey.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a social media strategist, I often find similarities between our services and businesses, but I’m perpetually seeking ways to distinguish myself. What I’m most proud of and what sets me apart from other social media marketing agencies is the bond that forms with every client—each one becomes family. When I collaborate with brands, I want them to understand that their brand integrates into my own. For me, it’s not just about financial gain; it’s about fulfilling my purpose. Im also proud of all of the connections I’ve made and all the brands I’ve worked with. I’ve helped manage some top entrepreneurs like The Biz Lawyer and Milano Di Rouge.

I mentioned earlier that I have a minor in psychology. Once a month, I host ‘Wine Down Wednesday’ sessions with my clients to check in on their mental health. Our aim isn’t solely to solve their social media challenges but also to give back by ensuring they maintain a healthy balance between business, work, and personal life. We’re dedicated to making this balance a reality.

In three years of business, I’ve accumulated a wealth of knowledge, yet I’m continuously learning. The journey of entrepreneurship hasn’t been without its challenges, but it has undeniably been worth it. Overcoming obstacles meant persistently breaking down barriers. I don’t accept ‘no’ as an answer because I firmly believe I deserve everything my heart desires. I’ve learned that being assertive is acceptable and that taking risks is not only permissible but often immensely rewarding.

My brand isn’t just a business—it’s been my beacon of hope, offering new perspectives daily and driving my motivation. It’s a beautiful synergy where I get to aid people in building and expanding their brand, influence, reputation, finances, and, most significantly, their confidence.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The thought of my friends visiting the area for a week fills my heart with immense joy. I absolutely adore it when my friends from Mississippi come to visit. Once they’re here, our agenda is all about finding the best spots for wings, delightful cocktails, and picturesque views. My friends are big on content creation—after all, content equals coins.

I’d kick things off with a lively round of top golf in Alpharetta, followed by a visit to Faded and Facet for the most charming cocktails. Then, we’d head to Barber Bistro for their incredible wings and egg rolls!

Of course, a day at Chateau Elan is an absolute must-do. We’d indulge in the spa, explore the vineyard, and partake in some delightful wine tasting. Afterwards, a stop by the Battery at Truist Park for more festivities and breathtaking views would be high on our priority list.

My friends are incredibly adventurous and open to embracing spontaneity. They thrive on going with the flow and relish in experiencing things as they unfold. I personally find beauty in the lack of stringent plans, allowing everything to naturally fall into place.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to express my gratitude to three pivotal figures in my life: God, my Mom, and my high school culinary arts teacher, Rod Hollins. Time and again, God has steered me towards the right path whenever I needed guidance. My mom has been my unwavering support, normalizing every decision I’ve made, even when the bigger picture wasn’t clear to her. At my birth, when doctors doubted my survival, both God and my mom persisted in fighting for me. Their unwavering belief in me remains a profound blessing in my life.

Lastly, my culinary arts teacher, Mr. Rod Hollins, possessed an incredible ability to see potential in every student who walked through his classroom doors. I recall gearing up for a significant cooking competition, eager to join the cooking team. However, Mr. Hollins saw a different path for me – the ‘Marketing team.’ At first, I doubted my capabilities to present, brand, and market our project to the judges. Yet, Mr. Hollins recognized my potential and guided me firmly toward this calling. He didn’t let me veer off course until our project was completed.

This shoutout holds a unique significance; it’s a heartfelt acknowledgment of every intricate aspect of my journey. I am profoundly thankful for each detail that has contributed to shaping who I am today.
