We had the good fortune of connecting with Latasha ‘TaTa’ Stevens and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Latasha ‘TaTa’, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson my business has taught me was…to always promote and market my brand/business no matter how slow sales may get…no matter if I get only a few likes on my social media posts…no matter what others perceive success to be. Success to me isn’t only measured by the amount of money my business has made over time, but also….the impact I leave on others…whether it’s 1 person or 1000 people. You never know who’s watching and rooting for you from afar…keep pushing! I was actually surprised at the amount of people I’ve never met that are inspired by my growth in business and how I handle the challenges that I have faced. Running a business is not for the faint at heart, there has been many successful highlights but also challenges that I’ve overcame. I’ve learned that you can’t only focus on the big wins you have to appreciate the growing pains that will build you up to be the best version of you and what you represent. Anything that I have and continue to put out there for the world to be a part of is because I believe in myself enough to create products and services that inspire others to want to take a leap of faith and build something that they believe in as well.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Pretty Stylez is an online store that offers made to order inspirational products that captures the inner and outer beauty in women of all ages. I created my store in 2018 after starting Confessions of a Pretty Girl, my blog and brand that allowed me to open up about my identity and my inner most beauty that often went unnoticed because of misconceptions and stereotypes. It was a platform that allowed me to recognize the beauty in women who inspire and motivate me in so many ways. From there, I wanted to create products that we can wear in confidence, represent our true selves, and inspire others without saying a word. A year later, I then created my own print and design business…Prettee Printz, customizing tees…mugs…hoodies…aprons…leggings…bags and so much more…I also started designing business cards…logos…text/image t-shirt designs…and banners. I was always passionate about helping to bring the creativity out of others so I wanted to provide services that helped to motivate people to start their own t-shirt line that catered to their lifestyle or something dope to fit their personality. Since starting Pretty Printz, I have partnered with many small business owners who has stepped out on faith with starting their business or t shirt line and I am very proud to use my gifts and creativity to help bring their vision to life!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hunnisssss!!!!! So after moving from Wisconsin and living in Atlanta for a little over 7 years now, I’ve learned to appreciate a good ole southern meal, the historic landmarks, the art and all of the culture the city has to offer. With that being said…during the day there are so many museums that highlight the cultural art of Atlanta. One of them is the High Museum which is right in the middle of Atlanta’s Art district and highlights many special exhibitions. Other museums and historic places that we can go during the day is the National Center for Civil and Human Rights Museum, Martin Luther King Jr’s birth home tour, and The Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park. For a little added fun I can not forget about the popup photo museums and interactive Exhibits…The Culture Experience, TFTI Experience and The Black Hair Experience are all really dope! Night time vibes would include Bonfire ATL which is an indoor/outdoor kickback with local vendors, live music and of course the outdoor bonfire. We would switch it up and hit up some chill hookah lounges with food, drinks music and a good time including Sivas in Midtown…Lilly’s in Buckhead and Cru in downtown ATL. My favorite part of the itinerary of course would be the food!!! Brunch is always a huge vibe in Atlanta so we would have to hit up BQE, Breakfast at Barney’s, and Ms. Iceys Kitchen & Bar Fri-Sun. Dinner vibes would be Rock Steady for a nice Caribbean flare, Poor Calvin’s for a nice Asian flare, and Two Urban Licks for all around American. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to a non-profit organization call Pearls For Teen Girls Inc. At the age of 12 I was introduced to an after school program in my neighborhood called Pearls for Teen Girls. My involvement with this organization turned out to be some of the best experiences in my life. I got my first job with Pearls at the age of 13 as a teen group facilitator and went on my first college tour at the age of 16. Most importantly, I learned Personal responsibility, Empathy, Awareness, Respect, Leadership, and Support, all of what this organization stands by. Pearls for Teen Girls helped me to achieve many goals, in which one of them was to attend college after graduating high school. Not only did I receive my first educational scholarship from Pearls at the age of 18, I was the first person out of my family to graduate from high school and attend college. S/O to the Queens that played such an important role in my life during the time I was involved in the program….Gerry, Danae, Colleen, Kathy, Nicki, Dessa, and Desiree!
