We had the good fortune of connecting with Latasha Matthews and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Latasha, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My balance has increased significantly as my role and business has grown and evolved. I believe setting healthy boundaries and doing things that you are passionate about will create space for balance, peace and harmony in your life. I know that I have established balance when my spiritual, financial, emotional, professional and mental areas are aligned with my goals and desires.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is Illumination Counseling and Coaching. I utilize a family system approach when working with clients, couples, and families. This approach allows me to look at how the system impacts each individual. In addition, I teach individuals, companies, and groups the importance of setting healthy boundaries with themselves and others. I’m known for the tagline #NOisacompletesentence. The areas that I’m most proud of are my success in developing new clinicians entering the field, my ability to turn down opportunities and clients that don’t fit my overall vision and lastly, I’m proud that 80% of my clients are referrals from other clients and community partnerships. I overcame challenges by, training planning, timing, and faith but even in having all those elements you will have success and failures in business and in life. Both success and failures provide you the necessary training to move forward in business.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Georgia has some amazing waterfalls and parks. We would take a hike to Stone Mountain and various parks in the city and then we would head down to Ponce City Market and enjoy the energy from the city. After that we could take a stroll on the beltline to do some skating or bike riding. While we are there we could check out the murals displayed by local artist.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to Shout out thanks to my Speaker coach Kiaundra Jackson ( America’s #1 Relationship Therapist) for giving me clarity and guidance and Tanisha Sapp my business Bestie for always being there to listen.
