We had the good fortune of connecting with LaTalia Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaTalia, what are you inspired by?
I believe the main factors that inspired me : growing up watching my grandmother and mother work very hard in pursuing their passion of serving people and providing products that people enjoyed. This gave me the desire to want to achieve that as well. Allowing God to guide me towards that, began to lay the foundation for my purpose. So at the age of 16 my purpose was set in motion without me even knowing or understanding that was being established

I always had a desire to own a beauty supply store since I was 16 years old. I tried to start the business in my twenties, but it wasn’t the right time as well. To be honest, I started working at a local hospital when I was 19 and I worked there for 17 years at the point and figured the hospital would be my forever job, but about 10 years later, it happened; I stepped out in faith. God opened every door I needed, from finances, location, supplies and knowledge. It was so amazing how this happened. So my biggest challenge was trusting that if God got me to it, He would get me through it. Faith. Someone seeded $10,000 into the business, another beauty supply store owner, taught me everything I needed to know including wholesale vendors and God lead me to the perfect location between at barbershop, beauty salon and OB doctors office. Everything fell into place. It took faith to believe that I could accomplish something beyond the levels what I have seen in the past with my mother and grandmother. I worked for the hospital an additional 8 1/2 years and in 2020, I resigned from a job after 26 years in the mist of covid. This was a major leap of faith, but God caught me for my obedience. I hear people in my field say, “if it were easy everybody would do it”. Starting a business takes hard work, sleepless nights, faith in God and true dedication. With this journey I have been able to find my purpose. I never knew of a hair ministry, but God has shown me that ministry doesn’t only exist within the church walls. My joy is selling products that enhances the already beautiful women I service. I would say this may not be for everyone, but regardless of your age, background, environment, ethnicity or financial backing if God be for you, who or (what) can be against you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in a small town with a nice beach and Weeki Wachee Springs (water park and small shows like Busch Gardens, but with no roller coaster rides), so that would be our first and second stop. I am pretty simple so if we stayed local for a few days I would visit Carrabba‘s, Texas roadhouse, Longhorn, or cheddars, but of course I would let them decide. I would probably visit Tampa for Busch Gardens and enjoy whatever event was going on at the time. Do a little shopping, movies and bowling to end the trip and finalizing it with church.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In the earlier parts of the business. My aunt Sharon Montgomery (she is no longer with us) she was my driving force and my motivation. If it wasn’t for her prayers and spiritual guidance, I don’t even know how I could have done it. Currently it would be Prophetess, Hope Hall she is my spiritual leader and has counseled prayed, and corrected me along the journey.
