We had the good fortune of connecting with LaShonda Wells and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaShonda, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea for my business because at one time I was a blogger who knew nothing about how websites worked, but I was constantly trying to figure it all out. After spending many sleepless nights and teaching myself how to build my own website, I would change it up all of the time. I realized that I had developed more love for the development and design aspect of it.

I knew there must be a lot of other bloggers with the same problem. And I was right. Soon after, I built many websites for bloggers and then small businesses.

Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What Sets Me Apart From Others:

My creative thinking ability and skill-set is what sets me apart. I feel that each client deserves a one-on-one unique design experience. I will never ever “just create a website”. It’s about me helping my clients understand the true value of their talents and helping them create a strategic process for a successful online presence. One that will attract, engage, and convert sales as they grow their business.

How Blogging Led Me to Become a Web Designer:

In 2012, my first blog was born featuring cooking, entertaining, & lifestyle. I decided to DIY my website and while I was busy learning, I had no idea that I would fall in love with building the website more than the blog itself. I would literally stay up day in and out to change the look of my blog way more than the average blogger. It was something that fueled my soul. Before long, my career was on another path.

It Was Not Easy- Breaking Barriers of Being Self-Taught:

When you’re trying to break into a new industry, it always comes with its set of challenges and being self-taught adds another layer. You have to prove yourself even more. It’s YOUR responsibility to completely immerse yourself into that industry and learn all that you can and more. Sometimes being self-taught, you are alone in learning, so when you hit snags, it can be discouraging and make you want to throw the towel in, but the most important thing is that you must never give up!

Lessons Learned Along the Way:

Pick a path, work hard at it, and stick with it. It takes years to build a successful brand with a profitable income consistently.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

I want people to know that my brand is trust worthy and authentic. I want them to immediately be inspired to chase their dreams no matter what obstacles they face. At the end of the day, it’s not about just building the next website or the next brand, it’s about building a heartfelt connection. That’s the key to success.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being a mom and running a business from home certainly changes your life, so with that said I am limited on the hang-out scene from day-to-day. However, if my girls are in-town we are definitely hitting the streets and these spots would be on the hit list for the week. On Sunday, we are definitely doing brunch at Poor Calvin’s. It’s so good, the people who know try to keep it on the “best kept secret list”. Monday, we’d grab a caribbean style lunch at Negril Atlanta and take a stroll through the beautiful Botanical Gardens. Tuesday, we would head towards midtown for a little vintage shopping at Little 5 Points before we head to dinner at Two-Urban Licks, the salmon chips and brisket are a MUST TRY.

Wednesday, we would sleep in a little then head over to grab Sublime Doughnuts near 10th and 14th Street then we’d head to Atlantic Station to shop for the day. We would grab a bowl of pho from Pho 24 for dinner. Thursday we would head to the Buckhead area just because it’s a popular shopping area. We’d browse through the shops at Buckhead, Lenox Mall, and Phipps Plaza and I would let my girls pick a spot they’d like to try.

On Friday, we’d head up to do outlet shopping in Woodstock, The Outlet Shops at Atlanta and on the way back down we’d hit Marietta Fish Market for a late lunch/dinner. Saturday, we are up early for breakfast at Egg Harbor Café off Peachtree Street before we head to the beautiful artistic scenes at the Beltline. Saturday evening and night we will head to Ponce City Market which has a ton if places to dine and drink, especially hitting the Rooftop at Ponce Market.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
