We had the good fortune of connecting with LaShay Fox and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaShay, why did you pursue a creative career?
In all honesty it happened by chance. I had never intended on being a creator nor starting my own business, however during quarantine I just started making stuff to pass the time. I would post my creations on my social medias, just to show off what I had created that day. People started requesting custom creations of their own! At first I was overwhelmed and excited but I knew this could turn into something big. So I turned this into a business. I came up with a name and logo. Created a business plan. Reached out to other creators in the same industry i wanted to be in, to get some tips, pros, and cons. Had to figured out what items I could do and challenge myself to try what intimidated me. Overall Im glad I used my time during the quarantine wisely.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
During the day I am a Pharmacy Technician. This means I am/was an essential worker during the pandemic. I love my job. Is it hard, Yes. Is it challenging, Absolutely! But I love what I do. I am naturally a people person and a healer. This job allows me to do both. Most days I am drained from being on my feet for 8+ hours a day, but I come home shower, decompress and go in my office to create. Creating has become my “happy place”. What I’ve learned is that its ok to say No, when you are overwhelmed. I never want to attempt to create something I know I personally can not make. I will however send them to another person I know can do the order for them. Not all money is good money! What I would like the world to know about Angel Mommies Creations and Myself is that, this brand was created originally from a place of pain that turned into a place for healing. My husband and I have loss 3 babies, hence Angel Mommie. Creating has turned my pain into passion and has allowed me to created things I didn’t even know was inside of me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Unfortunately I haven’t been able to explore the city too much. I have only been here a year and a half. When we moved into our place the next day the world shut down! However I know where all the food spots are and my best friend is a foodie.

So lets say she comes on a Friday night. I would take her downtown to the Riverwalk. The city is literally lit up. The river is so peacefully and beautiful. There is live music everywhere. We would have to stop to eat at Soy House a Korean restaurant. Grabs some drink from one of the many bars. Stop to take pictures at one of the many James Brown morals.

Saturday I Know we would sleep in, so we would miss breakfast. I would have to plan a day trip to the beach, about a 2 hour drive. Spend the day at the beach go shopping in the town. But we cant leave until we go to Tony’s Steakhouse. Best steak I have EVER tasted.

Sunday is a super chill day. Watch movies, laugh out loud, and drink wine.

Monday and Tuesday we would work on content for both of our businesses. My backyard has amazing natural lighting so we would take advantage of the sunlight and create images of our products. Order take out from some wings from the best wing place in the hood! Omg soooo good.

Wednesday however I would take her to the best Mexican restaurant in Augusta, El Rey for good food and better margaritas. My husband would have to drive us home.

Thursday I would introduce her to my Army Wife friends for a fun game night, with more food and drinks. She would enjoy karaoke. Thursday night help her pack. Friday morning she her off. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My 2 bestfriends Shalika and Carmen, who have supported me from they very beginning.

My Mom and Aunt who were the first to purchase custom creations from me

Jessica B. and Charmaine B. 2 of my friends who were already creators who helped me get started. They encouraged me, answered all my questions at all hours of the day/night, and simply was just patient with me.

My new friend Kendra, who I actually meet on Facebook in a crafting group and now we are sisters

My husband, who was the first to invest in my dreams. The heavy lifter.

My cousin Mark. Without him, I don’t know how Angel Mommies Creations would have made it. With his business background he helped me with my amazing website and turned my local business into a global business
