We had the good fortune of connecting with La’Shara Camps and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi La’Shara, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
One of the most important things business has taught me is, if you treat your business like an option. Then your success is optional. Meaning if you don’t put your business 1st it will never pivot into a career it will function like a regular job. You will make money but you will not be successful enough to grow into a chain or world wide household name.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m most proud that I am currently celebrating my 12th year of own Amoure Exotics Salon & body studio. Being a full service multi- cultural salon and being a single person rendering all services has been a challenge over the years, but I feel it allows me too have a better 1 on 1 relationships with my clients. I grew up In the salon from New born, so I heard horror stories from clients, & knew I never wanted my client’s to experience those things so. If they have a doubt or issue, I always wanted to have a solution or empathy for them. Which is why I’m always doing some kind of training or continuing education. At this point there’s no service that falls in the scope of my cosmetology license that I can not perform, but if it’s not ideal for my client I will say no. Why? Because over all good health of the skin, hair and body is my goal. One of my biggest challenges I’ve overcome is that everyone is not my clientele, i would love for everyone to return but if you grace my cahir only once i want you too have the best experience. When I first opened I used too say” if your hair isn’t becoming to you, then you should be coming to me!” Now I’m saying ” Let me help you reach your body goals!” Why? Because now 12 years in I have been trained in everything from body Contouring, to face & body fillers as well as took mentoriship classes. So I can make you look good from head to toe, but also encourage too feel good from head to toe. So your in a better place mentally & physically.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend in town visiting what would we do?? Well we are Located in the ” Swamp” aka home of the Florida gators so let’s attend a sporting event thy truly are year round. Then let’s check out some local spots, if were going fancy/casual Chopstix Cafe for some delicious authentic Asian food, they have the most beautiful out door seating area that’s on the water so you see all the wildlife including a Gators. Walk up / call ahad Caribbean Queen for the authentic Jamaican food the best in town in my opinion. Kay’s soul bowls is a local food truck its open weekends with a weekly menu that changes but don’t disappoint! For a quick bite midday or late night we gotta goto ANF Gyros & Grill!!! Is you want some hot pot my favorite is 10 seconds they live up to there name! They all have many options and we’re love at first bite. We can go for a walk at one of our many nature trails or on the University of campus to explore. Downtown has so many options every night of the week palomino pool hall is one of my favorites on Wednesday they have free pool. But the music & atmosphere is always nice. They have a backyard area and there connect to a restaurant as well as conveniently located down town.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
