We had the good fortune of connecting with Laronda Dawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laronda, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks has taken front and center as it pertains to my career. I’ve always known I would be my own boss. Even when I worked in someone else’s workplace. I would do so as if I owned that business and worked with integrity. I remember my very first time opening a business. I took extra measures to ensure the business would run with such excellence that I wouldn’t have to do much advertising. Well, that’s exactly what happened, my success was solely by word of mouth. I worked inevitably to please my clients, my reputation preceded me, and soon I had more clients than the space I held could contain.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a creative by nature, I love creating new musical content, research, and authorship. I believe what sets me apart from others in my line of work is my resilience and strength to keep moving. I never allow circumstances to dictate my outcome. My passion shows in the songs that I write. I create content that inspires and encourages others, it’s all about servanthood. If you’re a good servant people will follow you and support your work. I credit where I am today by my faith in God, I am nothing without him. Life isn’t easy, only the toughest survive. I overcame challenges in my career by holding fast to prayer and the peace that only comes from being in the presence of God. I’ve learned that nothing just happens, everything is intentional, my biggest lesson in life was to rely on God’s word, not people. People will always disappoint you but God will never fail, his love is unconditional. I want people to know me by my heart and soul, not by what they think or by what someone has told them without getting to know me for their self. I am a passionate creative, everyday person, who loves God, family, and making people smile. My brand is all about inspiration and encouragement. I want to make the world better with the gifts and talents I have to offer.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them downtown to a great restaurant of their choice and liking, take a tour of the cityscape, and talk about their goals and what makes them happy. Then I would try to help in someway.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shout out to my family who have been there by my side throughout the ups and downs of Entreleadership journey. Thank you to my husband and children for being patient with me while I pursue my dreams. I love you more than words could ever express. For me, thats where it all begins, and the heart of my work today, without the support of my family, I couldn’t do what I do. Thank you to my Grandma for always giving words of wisdom when I needed them the most. To my pastors and all those who have helped me along the way, I truly appreciate all of your efforts and support through the years. It’s because of people like you, the world is a beautiful place. Thank you to my mentors, Larue Howard, and Babbie Mason for pouring your talent and witty ideas, when it comes to the business of being an entrepreneur. I’m honored to have been privileged to work along side you. And look forward to future projects together. Finally, to my favorite Aunt Dr. Madge Buskey, thank you for always supporting me, even when you were unsure of the outcome, you stood faithful. I love you for being there for me. Thank you to anyone and everyone who’s bought a product of mines, your support means the world to me.
