We had the good fortune of connecting with LaQuita Parks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaQuita, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is the meaning behind my company name. Pa-Pro-Vi means Pain, Progress, Victory. I believe that without pain, there is no progress and without progress, there can be no victory. I help people take their story from a “thought to a realization” and help them heal in the process. I use my own personal story of medical childhood trauma that left me crippled for life as an avenue to encourage others to share their stories.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner and CEO of Pa-Pro-Vi Publishing. Pa-Pro-Vi means Pain, Progress, Victory because I believe that without pain there is no progress and without progress there can be no victory. I help people take their story from a “thought to a realization!” 100% of everyone living and dead has a story. At Pa-Pro-Vi, I provide a professional, productive platform to share their story and start the healing process.

What sets me apart is that I help simplify the publishing process and make it easy. The pandemic has been bad but it has also opened doors for opportunities that were not there (for whatever reasons) before. I use my personal story of medical childhood trauma that left me crippled for life, to help others tell their stories.

I am most excited about my clients and their unique stories. From a law professor, a green beret, criminal defense attorney, and school teachers to my 108 year old Mother Shazier. The ability to help change peoples lives by showing them the importance of telling their story makes my job as a publisher fascinating.

I started Pa-Pro-Vi Publishing in August of 2020, in the midst of the pandemic. All I know is that I wanted to provide an outlet for people to tell their story. I am still amazed that in less than one year, I have helped hundreds of people start the healing process by publishing stories for some and sharing my personal story with others, through podcast interviews, magazine features, workshops, boot camps, summits and motivational speaking engagements. This path has not been easy but it has given me more fulfillment than I could have ever imagined. Helping my clients turn their pain into progress and their progress into victory, has been it’s own reward.

Having an amazing support system has been important in building my publishing company. Knowing when to seek help is also necessary. One of the best business decisions I could have made was to hire a business coach to help me with my business goals and ideas. Building a network to help me promote my brand was also key. And learning how to use social media has changed my life.

One of the lessons that I have learned along the way is that I can’t worry about what everyone else is doing. I have to bring my own uniqueness to the table. I don’t apologize for who I am. I have to be confident in the services I offer so my clients will trust that I know what I am doing.

I want the world to know that you can do anything you want to do. You become what you focus on the most. If you say you can’t, then you won’t. But if you say you can, then you certainly will. I am fifty one years old and have lived with chronic pain since I was four years old. Everyday I make the choice to out-run my walking limitation by helping another person heal through telling their story. Whatever your limitations are, you too can choose to out-run them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a “let’s go for a country ride” kind of girl. I love to hope in the car and hit the road. One of my favorite spots is Tallulah Falls, especially in the fall when the trees have turned colors. I never get enough of seeing the beauty of God’s creation. The mountain view, the sky on a clear sunny day is breathtaking.

I can not go up to Tallulah Falls without stopping to dine at the Dillard House restaurant. Sitting in front of the picture window reminds me of a the mountain scene from a movie called, The Sound of Music.

After dining, I love to walk around to see the horses and look at the antique shops in the area.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First let me say that I am extremely blessed to have such a dynamic support circle. First and foremost, I want to thank God because without his grace and mercy, my life and my accomplishments would be nothing and they would mean nothing. There is no way I would even be here today without the love and support of my three children, Shante’, Curtis and Alexis. Twelve years ago in April, two of the most important people in my life passed away just seventeen days apart, my grandmother Bessie Eberhart Harris and my mother, Shelia Gail Eberhart. To say their death’s devastated my life would be an understatement. I miss them everyday but no matter what, I knew they loved me. I dedicate this shoutout to them because they taught me not to use my limitations as an excuse. They never accepted my I cants, without insisting that I try. I can envision myself calling them on the phone to tell them about all the wonderful things I have accomplished and hearing them both say with excitement in their voices, “I’m not surprised!” I dedicate my story to their memory.
