We had the good fortune of connecting with Langston Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Langston, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
EYE-den-ti-tees were founded by Kansas City native Langston Jones in hopes to set a positive influence on people off all cultures, backgrounds, and creeds. Throughout his teenage years, like most teens, Langston struggled with self esteem, and image issues. With the inspiration to have a voice and be seen, he then started to create this “classic” yet “chic” controversial line, EYE-den-ti-tees. Working alongside top models, countless fashion shows, and endless fashion opportunities, Langston’s main goal is to bridge the multicultural gap between generations.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So I have a dual role as I work in both Early Childhood Education as Head Start Home Based Specialist advocating and educating families, as well as working in HIV/ Public Health and Prevention as a Community Prevention Specialist advocating, education, and testing society on sexual health practices.

I’m most proud of the being able to work both positions during the pandemic and continue to advocate and educate people everyday and navigate their lives during this Virtual World.

I come from a family line on both my father and mother side where were are very dedicated to our work lives and also giving back to our community. It has been an easy road as working on both spectrums you definitely have to learn to balance out your life.

I overcame challenges by learning self-care and taking care of my mental health, as well as learning to balance out my life.

INDIVIDUALITY. EYE-dentitee. PURPOSE are the three words that describe me or my brand. I want everyone to be their own individual while learning to identify or learn their identity and purpose in life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Midtown do some shopping, site seeing at the museum, try out some mom and pop restaurants I’ve been wanting to try but haven’t yet. Brunch and Day Parties are the vibe and move all Summer 2021 so Friday would be hitting up happy hour and later a nightclub. Saturday is reserved for a bit of shopping site seeing, of course brunch then take a bit of a nap then go out again to take the night away. Sunday, we wake up for Brunch again and the move to the Day Party then after that own the night.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If there were anyone I would dedicate my shoutout to, it would be to the upcoming generation; as this world is forever changing, be the change the world needs to see. I also would like to give credit or recognition to my mother, Lisa Edwards, as he was a single parent raising 5 children on her own. She paved a way not only for me but all my siblings to be successful citizens and individuals.
