Meet Laneesha James: Co-Owner and Founder of LA Luxury Body

We had the good fortune of connecting with Laneesha James and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laneesha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting LA Luxury Body began organically. I have always known that working for myself would be my end goal in life but I was uncertain as to what capacity that would be in, initially. It wasn’t until I was pregnant with my second son, Cross, that I realized that my aspiration to regain my confidence postpartum aligned with my desire to create a brand that embodied body positivity and determination. I knew that my journey to achieving my desired body would come with obstacles so I decided to create a line of products that I truly believed in and knew would assist me in the process.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
LA Luxury Body is a fitness and lifestyle retailer that specializes in waist trainers, sweat wear, and athleisure apparel. Our brand was created with one thing in mind, making it affordable for our consumers to reach their body goals by offering the best quality products for the most competitive market price. When shopping LA Luxury Body I want it to be evident that we want you to succeed. I began this journey through the development of LA Luxury Body because as a mother of two I understand that when optimal health meets style, the end result is confidence. This road has not been easy, we have gone through multiple factories, product testings, and revamps but only with our customer’s satisfaction in mind. I believe that our mission to meet our consumers where they are, financially, especially in the middle of a pandemic sets us apart from our competitors. I also believe that the health and wellness industry is becoming overpriced. This due to a rise in health awareness but as a brand that truly cares, we wants our consumers to not have to question if the price is too much to become the best version of themselves.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love going to the Ponce City Market. It is such a nice vibe if you go on the right day. I also like Cru Lounge in Atlanta. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Shoutout belongs to my husband, DeVante. He is my rock and sergeant at arms through life and business. He is more than deserving of this shoutout because he stepped in to the business with me as Co-Owner and Chief of Finance. We literally started at zero. We have been able to grow our business together and have recently began a full scaling of LA Luxury Body with the goal of helping women and men worldwide as they work to build the bodies they desire.
