We had the good fortune of connecting with Landrhe Higdon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Landrhe, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I decided to start my own Social Media Marketing business, I knew in my heart it would be a challenging task. I grew up in a small southern town, where Social Media Managers didn’t exist. You had marketing assistants everywhere, but none with a digital focus. There are thousands of marketing degrees, communications, etc. but I believe social media isn’t taught in school, it’s all based on experiences. I started my media journey as a bridal consultant promoting the shop, dresses, events and staff. I began to gain more opportunities to work with clothing brands globally, and even getting to travel with them as well. Getting that experience to be surrounded by successful businesses owners, gave me the confidence and knowledge to pour into my own business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe what sets me apart from others is my ability to build meaningful relationships. Social media is such a broad industry, and from a business perspective, it’s all about giving people value and leaving a lasting impact. It’s also about staying consistent with your brand values and practices in your daily life. There are a million businesses that offer the same services and products, and people will gravitate towards the one that make them FEEL something. One statement I’ve always stood by in my business is “branding builds relationships, relationships build trust, trust breeds business”. Nothing is more fulfilling to me than creating authentic brands, while building strong relationships.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would plan a trip to my favorite city, New York. We would start the day off at a local coffee shop to grab an iced matcha latte. Visit an art museum, buy flowers from the market, take a stroll through central park and see a broadway show, preferably Funny Girl starring Lea Michelle. Then we would end dress up and eat dinner at a rooftop restaurant/bar. Lastly, we would order a ton of pizza, drink wine and watch the bachelorette.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a huge shoutout to the company Modern Nature, for giving me so many opportunities for my business. I have gained so much knowledge, tools, experience and mentors working with this company. The are catalysts for building genuine relationships and encouraging every person to be their most authentic selves. It’s inspired me to give back to the businesses in my community and help elevate the success of their brands.
