We had the good fortune of connecting with Lamonte Nichols and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lamonte, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am born and raised from Washington D.C. I truly believe that my background in terms of being a kid who was forced to go to church even when I did not want to helped me to learn how to get people’s attention and how to find ways to move people spiritually from watching sermons and singers in the church, This was the inception of me being a great DJ, MC, Radio Host, and Music Producer. That background fused with my upbringing from being a Washingtonian and having access to so many genres of music made me gravitate to house music because of the spiritual feeling it evokes.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is House Music which is used to create a mix show and a sound lab for my show “Dope sound radio house vibrations” where dissect, discuss, and entertain every genre of house music and give credit to house music legends. I believe what sets me apart from others is my passion for House and my mission to heal others around the world with it, I get excited about showcasing house music DJs, Producers, and Artist who don’t get the credit they deserve. I got to this point by being a DJ who was completely captivated by dance in the early 1990’s, It was not easy because I have to struggle to find my place in the genre and figure about where my voice had the most impact but I overcame those challenges by realizing how what I was doing was making people happy. Along the way I have learned to never be afraid to try new things and always be a student of the game.
I want the world know of about my brand that I want to see people dance and be healed through house music no matter what genre it is under,

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well being from D.C. I would have to take them to see some of the landmarks in the DC area during the day, and night go to the 9:30 club, the Eaton Hotel, and Flash to listen to live music and then end the night enjoying a world famous jumbo slice of pizza from Pizza Boli’s in the Adams Morgan area.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this to Michael Rudnick of Radiocrown.com for believing in my vision for house music.
